I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

St Asaph Fayre - 18th August 2013
Hi Folks,
On Sunday 18th August, we have been asked back to do a full day demonstration of model flying at the St Asaph Rotary Club Fayre. It's going to be the same setup as last year, so breakfast at teh Whistlestop before hand, arrive nice and early, set up, fly through the day, and everyone is happy. Last years do was really good, despite the mediocre weather.
The site is next to Llanerch hall, so nice and accesible for most of us. It is also quite large, so most models should be okay there (depending on wind direction of course).
The Fayre website is here: http://www.stasaphfayre.co.uk/page1e.html
As per last year, we could do with some tables, gazebos etc, just in case the weather is less than perfect. Everyone is welcome, whether you are flying or not. Last year we found that a fair bit of time was taken up by just chatting to the public about the club/models/flying etc.
So, who fancies coming, and what are you going to bring? I'm going to be there, complete with big glider, little fast thing, quadcopters, video downlink and we'll see what else is flyable on the day!

I will bring a selection of flying and static models, probably half a dozen or so plus a gazebo and wall paper table and some chairs

I'll get my mower off Brian to cut the strip as required.
I'll bring Wilga along with me lets hope for sunny weather this year so all the balsa planes don't swell.

Alright Guys. Just a reminder that the Fayre is this sunday. It lokos like the weather might be a bit mixed, so we could do with a few gazebos if anyone has one we can use?
Also, if anyone has an outdoor tv we can borrow?

From what I can see of the long range forecast wind's likely to more of an issue than rain so gazebos my be a pain. Outdoor tele ??

Re: St Asaph Fayre - 18th August 2013
Mark, Andy & I went to have a look at the field this evening and have a chat with Tony, one of the organisers. Looking at the field and the weather forecast on xcweather and checking the orientation of the strip I think we will have no big problem with wind. In fact the forecast is promising for a good day. The field is nice and open and good provision being made for unloading our stuff. So, folks, bring it on!!
There's a meal planned for event people after the fayre has finished for anyone interested. Probably about £5 per head. I will post the details when I have them

Yes Rich it dose, same as last year there waiting on the farmer to cut the rest of the field, if not we can just cut a strip on Saturday.

Re: St Asaph Fayre - 18th August 2013
It's about a foot long, with the odd tuft a bit longer. The chap there, Tony Dean, was really concerned about annoying the farmer (and therefore landowner), so if the grass hasn't been cut by the farmer before sunday, he wanted to minimise the amount of damage to the grass.
We agreed that if it hadn't been cut by the farmer, we would do the same as last year. So, a couple of gazebos by the fence, with the grass cut back a bit there, then a path out to a runway that would be about 20mx5m (ish). We wouldn't be allowed to park in the field if the grass is long, instead use the hardcore road through to drop off stuff, then park in the normal carpark.
It looked like there were some contractors cutting grass a couple of fields over, so they may do this one soon though. We'll have to wait and see on saturday.

Cool the grass was a lot shorter last year, the club or my mower won't cut it if it's a foot long.

Didn't get chance, I had Daisy with me.
I've got a petrol strimmer I can bring over to do an initial cut before your mower. We'll see though. In the perfect world, the farmer will cut it frdiay afternoon/sat morning for us, then we just need to zip over it with yours
