I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

The Nationals August Bank Holiday
I'm off to the Nats this year not flying, thinking of camping Fri, Sat, Sun, going to make a visit to the Silent flight Nats which is the same weekend about 5-10 miles away one of the days, camping is £18.50/unit this includes entry.
Anybody interested get in touch we could all camp together in the same area have a right good time, masses of trade twice as much as Weston or Woodvale all modelling as well, good night flying in the hanger & I almost forgot a bar

Dont forget your free flight models for the evenings.

I haven't got a free flight model, can I borrow one of somebody
Within reason does anybody want me to bring anything back with me, cash up front or no go.

I always thought the key things to look for when judging, were the biggest bribes....

You are more than qualified, Rich
Your an Examiner
You do fly IMAC and very well, not at beginner level
You know what the form is
Sock it too em ! You know your quite pleased to be asked really.
Or is it, at this level, a-a-rsked (not rude version but posh speak like you were meeting royalty)

Re: The Nationals August Bank Holiday
Well what a weekend!
I arived at RAF Barkston at 9.45pm on Friday night, at the gate i was asked to show my passes and was then told to find a space to pitch my tent. Unfortunatly the rouite i choose led me right past the famous hanger. (for those that dont know, after the sun has set the hanger becomes the main atraction, split into 3 with a huge bar, freeflight area and shokkie zone)
I thought to myself "i`ll just have a quick pint and see whats happening and pop my tent up in abit", 20mins later myself and Rich had met up and were settling into a reet good drink, you see the trouble with the hanger is everyones in there so before you know it myself and Rich find ourselves slighlty drunk trying to put my tent up at well past midnight, with a structure in roughly the shape of a tent i quickly thew the models in it and slept in the car
Saturday came around far to quick and with no sign of Rich, so after a shower and some slight pain relief i set about my tasks for the weekend. this began with a nice sos buttie with the Overlander boys, then a quick shimey up a marquee pole to place my Hunter on disply on the trade stand, I spent a couple of hours working the stand (I really enjoy doing this its great chatting to like minded fliers, and over the time you get some right funny people ), then headed of to the pylon line for some intresting action

Re: The Nationals August Bank Holiday
My main task for the weekend was to do somthing diferent so I volenteered to marshall the F3D and F5D comp at the pylon line, I was also offered the chance to fly one of the lads spare F5D racers but with the size of my hangover flying a 200+MPH racer I opted out.
The event CD Barry Leaver took pitty on my state and placed me at Pylon 3 (suposed to be the easiest) and Geb talked me threw what to do. Pylon is an area of the hobby that i didnt really know alot about and this weekend was a right eye opener, after a quick pie with the now sobered up Rich we had a look round the pits,
F3D is the fastest I.C R/C flying on the plannet with engines costing 480 euros a pop revving to 42,000RPM and lasting aprox 10 races before exploding (or one run up on the wrong needle as Ali Mashinchy found), and airframes tested to 40+G in the turn's
F5D is were the tekkies come out to play, electric and again 200+mph (think Andy's Jibe but another 400-500w, only slowed down by limiters, which i didnt really understand till the weekend the limiter lets you have 1000w per minute so if your power train delivers 500w you get 2 mins flying, an average heat for the weekend was 63 secounds for 10 laps so ruff maths show the lads doing 900w. Some peeps were flying for too long so were found proping up, others to short so were franticly "re pitching" off the self props to increase the run time.
How hard can it be?
