I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Extra 260 30e
Here is my latest toy, I've been looking for a reasonable sized model for electric power for some time, and having seen Marks one in action I could not resist getting one of my own. I picked this one up for the princley sum of £55 including P&P. There were some bits missing from the kit, namely the rudder servo mounting tray and some of the hardware. A servo tray was made up from balsa, and the missing hardware I was able to make up from my own stock.
All I need to finish it are some props and then the right weather conditions to test fly it.
Here are the specs:
Wingspan 49", length 44.5", AUW 2 pounds 2 oz, motor Wasp 2814 1100Kv brushless outrunner, ESC Wasp 40A opto, Rx Corona DC, RX battery 900Mah Ni-Cad servos 2 x Jamara 9g on aillerons, 2x Jamara 18g rudder & elevator, prop (to be decided).

An exalent choice Mel, the rudder tray isnt in the kit to give fredom of choice to the builder, We (overlander) had changed the instructions but you must have got an old set, we fly with the rudder just behind the wing spar.
Prop for that motor i would go with a 12x6apcE

Yes very impressive, I don't know about the flight battery but mine would certainly need recharging if I tried to attempt even the mildest of those manuvers

Re: Extra 260 30e
forgot to say Mel, would highly recomend these packs if you were to get any more

Price isnt quite so good now the exchange rate isnt so favourable. postage is cheap though. Andy uses these in his big yellow glider too. also use them in my sabre.

Yes I've seen those advertised elsewhere, I shall bear them in mind (added the link to my bookmarks). At present I've got a couple of BRC's own brand 2200 3s to try they were £20 each.

Re: Extra 260 30e
Aye, I can highly recommend those packs, very good for the money! AS Leigh said, I'm (ab)using them in my big yellow glider (the one with the dent in the LE of the wing!). I'm pulling up to 65Amps (30C) out of them for bursts of up to 20 seconds, and they are holding up very well. Currently got about 40 cycles on them, and if anything, they are slightly better than when new! In comparison to the Thunderpower (read expensive!) packs I have also tried, they hold their voltage better under load, and don't wear out as quickly!
The best bit is that they are Yellow too
Cheers
Andy
