I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
I quite fancy one of these only prob is I'd have to get some crappy transmitting kit
Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
You could always swap the RX out for a Tupperware one Bri, the problem is that the smallest tupperware receiver weighs as much as the entire model

Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
Bri, if it works on a DSM, I have a TX here which you are welcome to have (comes with CX2 helis), which save you on spending a small for fortune on top of the line TX like a spectrum
Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
Oh I can get a top of the line Spekky set for around £40+ but I'm just not sure I want the model that badly How much pain could a guy stand
Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
Does the UMX Extra need expo ? some say it does or would dual rates do the job. I can get a DX5 for around £40 but it has no expo only dual rates. Thanks for the offer of the T/X Zaid but I don't want to introduce bad habits into my flying like mode 2
Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
You need as much movement as you can get indoors, then expo to soften the centres.
So yes you need expo not dual rates, don't fall into the trap that reduced rates are better indoors, it'll have the floor written all over it.

Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
Thanks for that Rich, I suspected that was the case, I'll probably give it a miss.
Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
Have you not got a tranny that will take a spekky module, I have three of them
Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
As Rich said, you need to use all the throw availible really particualy on the small stuff, with a good dose of expo!, The extra i have the ali's rated down but thats because i dont like a fast roll but everything else maxed out!
Ali 75% rate 30% expo
Rud 125% rate 40% expo
Ele 125% rate 45% expo

Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
I thought you weren't supposed to overdrive the servos with more than 100% on the spekky BNF stuff
Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
to be honest they dont move much more, and ive still got about 2mm of throw left in the worm gear

Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
I know that because I have done it, then I read the instructions & it says do not go over 100% so I didn't, just a thought it was
Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
Found a place Stateside that does a Futaba to Spektrum module for $45 but it's the old story of do you take the risk on carriage and possible import duties and all the rest +VAT etc http://www.espritmodel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=5693
Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
just checked out the shipping is $27.50 plus the VAT plus the handling charge not worth it IMO
Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
My thoughts exactly ! I've emailed Stan Yeo to see if he'll sell a module less the R/X and I'll bell Steve Webbs tomorrow
Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
Mine arrived this afternoon, got some extra batteries from Overlander, don't think I'll have T/X module in time for this coming weekend though

Re: Me And NFJ with the UMX Extra
Bri, just a thought, but if you got it with the RX, there are more than a few Spekky users on here that would buy it off you
