I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Sad News
With a heavy heart I am sad to report that David Sargent has passed away this evening. Dave and family had a great time visiting North Wales and meeting up with some of the boys from flying and his old friends.
Dave's family does not wish for anybody to travel for the short cremation service but Dave asked for his ashes to be scattered over the Great Orme from a gilder, a place where he spent many happy times with friends doing what he enjoyed most. The day we do this should be a celebration and a happy event.
Dave was kind enough to take me under his wing when we moved to North Wales 9 years ago, helped me with my helicopter setup and when I first had my solo flight the poor guy nearly had a couple of heart attacks with my lack of flying ability! And nothing’s changed since! But what sticks in my mind to this day was Brent flying a powered glider at the old field.
This is how is goes:
Dave: Brent it’s yours
Brent: yes its fine I’m getting the hang of this
Dave: Brent you’re to low to slow pass the TX here
Brent: it’s fine Dave I’ve got the hang of it. I know what am doing !
Dave: you’re going to crash! The glider’s heading towards the ground at a rate of knots.
Brent: Dave maybe you should take over (glider not even a 1m from the ground!!)
Crash!
Dave was a Jedi in helis and fixed wing but even he couldn't do a thing to save Brent's glider!! Brent has managed to maintain this standard to this day ;-)
All you could see was Brent doing the walk of shame in the distance. Dave shook his head and started laughing!!
He was a kind man and couldn't do enough for you.
We joined RDMFC together and found you guys to be a great bunch and the field became his second home. But a few years later he suffered a stroke and was found by Steve Price a few days later. The damage was done and that was the start of his health deterioration, where he required constant care and in the last three weeks we found out that he had cancer and it was pretty advanced.
I am sure you will all join me and wish Dave a final farewell. It’s been a pleasure knowing you old mate.
Dave leaves behind his family, Jane and his daughter Kat.

Re: Sad News
Very sad news indeed
Dave had a great passion for anything flying or sailing and tried to pass that on at every opportunity, willing to help anyone who needed it.
Dave was a great friend and will be sadly missed.

Sad news.
I remember the few days before he joined the Rhyl club at the Orme he came over to me to ask what it was like at Rhyl he had heard stories of Rhyl not being a friendly club, I just said give it a go and see what it's like for yourself.
He took my answer and joined along with a lot of his friends some of them are still remain as members of Rhyl today.

Re: Sad News
Such a shame, Dave was a fantastic guy. He helped me a alot with my ventures in Helis, and who can forget the entertainment he provided at the Llysfaen meets.
One thing I will always remember was the phone call i made to to him one very cold and snowey night after we had all left Llysfaen hall
Me: Hi Dave
Dave: What have you left in the hall you numpty
Me: Nothing but my cars on its roof!
Dave: WHAT! im on my way!
Brent also returned to help and Dave spent the next 4 hours in the freezing snow with me and got me home.
A true Gent!

Sad News
Sorry to hear such sad news, Dave was a very talented model builder
His models were quite a variety from flying, sailing and motors, the lorry towing the trailer with a boat on it was superb even the model people worked, also the water skier would wave to the public as the power boat pulled it through the water.

Re: Sad News
Post on behalf of Jane & Kate
First can I ask you to say thank you to all David's friends at the flying club for all the lovely messages and memories they have posted on the forum. They all mean a great deal to Kate and I and it is lovely to know that David meant so much to so many.
David's Funeral will be held on Wednesday 4th February 2015, 2:30pm at Poole Crematorium. It will be a short celebration of his life...David hated funerals and all the trappings so we want to make it a celebration as much as possible. We will then retire to a local hostelry to drink a toast.
As we will be bringing David's ashes back to North Wales we do not expect any of our friends from the North to make the long journey down south. It is such a long way just for a very short time. We would love to see his friends on the Orme when the time comes and give him a flying send off..!!
