I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Club Night - 1st August
Looks like it is going to be a scorcher of an evening tomorrow night, perhaps a world first for a RDMFC club night?

Re: Club Night - 1st August
Great night tonight, big thanks to Rich for the BBQ and here's a couple of photos of Mel's Super Cub that finally got it's maiden tonight, looked great in the setting sun
Re: Club Night - 1st August
Nice shots of Mel's Cub Brian, nice BBQ, Roy does a mean onion.
A reasonable turn out.

Re: Club Night - 1st August
The cub looked really nice in the air. I didn't manage to get any decent shots of it from the quad though. I think I need some more practice chasing models!
I did get some nice snaps though, here:
And then there was some hanging around until it was dark enough for this:

Thanks go to the evenings audience and generous hosts:

Yes I was pleased to finally get the Cub into the air after all the engine problems that dogged it, just a few tweaks needed now. Many thanks to Richie for doing the test flight and to Brian for capturing it on camera, looks as pretty as a picture in the air.

Re: Club Night - 1st August
Andy I've run one of your shots through Lightroom and Photoshop to see how much lens correction I could give it. Even on the max setting in LR there's still a very exaggerated earth curvature :-(
Re: Club Night - 1st August
I've now gone further with this on a trial dowload of a program called PT lens, I say trial as the full version is $25 and I don't particularly want it as LR usually suits my needs if using a wide angle lens
Re: Club Night - 1st August
Removing the lens distortion seems to be a bit tricky with images from a GoPro. I actually don't mind the distortion for a lot of the images, I think it makes them look a bit funky and different.
That said, it would be nice to be able to remove it for certain applications. The PT lens software has added a bit more distortion in around the centre of the edges of image, the bullocks look a bit squished. I wonder if cropping the worst of the distortion out would be a better approach?

Re: Club Night - 1st August
My edits were just a quick play Andy just to prove there were possibilities out there
Re: Club Night - 1st August
Its another thing added to the to do list! I suspect a new camera and bigger airframe will sort most of the issues though :-)

Re: Club Night - 1st August
I downloaded a trial of Adobe Lightroom 5 last night Brian, apparently it has built in support for images taken on a GoPro, complete with a lens profile for removing distortion. I've not tried it out yet, but will do soon hopefully!

Re: Club Night - 1st August
I've got LR4 Andy and have trialled LR5 but for my present needs I don't feel the upgrade worth the price at this moment in time
