I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Rhyl Airshow ( full size 2013)
The flyer for the Rhyl Airshow says that there will be model aircraft on show ? Do we have an invite or are these models from elsewhere ?

No one has been in contact with me or anyone else from RDMFC as far as I'm aware.

Not herd anything but there was 2 club members displaying static last year that didn't see fit to invite anyone one else

May be a chance of some PR for the club even with static ? Hope the weather is good for the days though as the full size may be quite good.

Re: Rhyl Airshow ( full size 2013)
The Last flyable Vulcan is coming to the RHYL AIRSHOW in August. 2013.
My Eldest, John Q went to see it perform at the show at RAF Waddington, on July 7th.
The plane did several of the classic Immelman turns during the show and very very loud
Have a look at the link https://youtu.be/B092qvttZGU
We also had a trip out to RAF Finningley in April to see the guided tour of the beast being prepared for this year's display season.
The Airfield has now become Robin Hood Airport and no longer RAF

Don't forget this may be the last airshow season for the Vulcan due to flying hours getting near end !

I think its got funding to include 2015 atm. It did look as if this would be its last year a few months ago but that was then

Tis true.
The range of them suffered from persistent major crack fatigue damage, simply because the L73 an L72 alloys used was strong but very prone to stress cracks.
For lightness the fin parts were mag alloy.
I worked at Chadderton on the various upgrades in the design office and it was a never ending story.
The big difference then was there was no such thing as internal inspections and built in redundancy.
Modern aircraft have graded inspection schedules with redundancy built in.
All areas have internal inpection ports. If a componet fails, the adjacent part can be considered to be able to share the load and gives flying time to prepare for the next inspection. The aircraft does not have to be grounded immediately.
The older designs were sealed up lumps with a finite life based on experience of the day from other aircraft having the same flying hours.
