I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Slope soaring and uncontrolled dogs!!
John Bowmans just emailed me this photograph this evening, taken on Moel Ffamau back in the 70's I think, me holding JB's slope soarer and our partners doing their best to control the Bowman's two Dalmatians Lucy and Amy. It's funny I had several goes with John's slopers over the years but until last year never got bitten by the bug
Re: Slope soaring and uncontrolled dogs!!
Crazy!!!!
Dalmatians are very hyper!
Is that an all blasa model there?
No foamies back then hey!

That was all balsa Sam if memory serves me well. There were veneered foam wings around then, we're not quite back in the days of Noah's ark
Re: Slope soaring and uncontrolled dogs!!

Re: Slope soaring and uncontrolled dogs!!
Ye its nice to see you here John.
Sam, I thinks John donated to the club, you should find it by the strip and its housing the car battery for the electric fence

I had the better line in "T" shirts. Notice the bleeding finger, I always have been a walking bio-hazard
Re: Slope soaring and uncontrolled dogs!!
Better line of Tee Shirts, but they all seem to be the same size ! X small

Re: Slope soaring and uncontrolled dogs!!
Certainly is Pete It's another one of JB's photos from yesteryear

Brian
I have the bought the plan pack for a 72 inch Barnstormer which I intend to build this year.
I bought it because Bill had one and I remember how well it flew and he liked flying it.
I was surprised to find though, that the plan showed it as being 3 channel,
I intend to build it for 4 channel.

Re: Slope soaring and uncontrolled dogs!!
John Bowman had one if not two of these, I seem to remember one being quite large for it's day I think the Barnstormer was the only model I ever saw Rip fly
Re: Slope soaring and uncontrolled dogs!!
Well seeing has you enjoyed the last picture here is another from 1975.
The dynamic duo of Colclough and Bowman this time with my DB Barnstormer 72, powered with a Merco 61. Built from the plan.
You will note that the "Red Shed" is still there, the tree and Rhuddllan Castle in the background. Strange that the red shed is now falling down but Brian and I today still look as good as ever.
In Brian's picture we see Brians first low winger the Kamco Kavalier and it is indeed "Rip" Bill Kirkby with his red Barnstormer 52 in the background. I live next door but one to Bill's son Alan and I understand that the Barnstomer and some of Bill's models are still in his shed in Rhuddlan.
Sam, no I don't still have the red Horizon radio, thank goodness, it cost me £105 with just two servos in 1972, my wages were about £25 a week at the time so a set of radio gear was very expensive in those days and not too reliable either. It had a switchable frequency on 27meg. Green or Blue and had to be returned to the manufactures several times for "adjustment", the Mcgregor servos were not too clever either.
I hope you are interested in our tales of yester-year if so I will try and dig out a few more pictures for your entertainment.
Regards
John Bow.
PS. Tim I do still have the pink shoes and Brian can still get into those flairs, just has to undo his belt by one notch.
