I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Why oh why do people insist on hideing their identity behind strange user names on the forum Most of us seem happy to be known by name but it is iretating to find new members who do not use their own name and leave us guessing. At least introduce yourselves. . Who for instance is MAXTER our newest member

Dave is there not more information found in the profile section, some people may think it is humourous to have a name to sign on with just like the pictures, yours is a helicopter I think.

Re: forum names
All that is shown on the profile page is the user name,DOB,location etc and a lot do not fill anything in.

Re: forum names
Guys to be honest i dont know who maxter is either, i see a few more details than you lot but dont recognise anything so possibly not a club member, We do get alot of spam members that dont get through the net maxter may be one thats creeped through but im awaiting a reply.
What i tend to do is when members join and i sus who they are they get a polite PM asking to use there real name.

Re: forum names
Mrs admin would it be possible to have both real and nickname displayed? im sure ive seen this on other forums. i think that would solve this problem allowing forumites the freedom to choose a nickname and save everyone else wondering if theyre talking to a club member or a representative of the Nigerian lottery that we all seem to enter whilst our backs are turned.
as for avatars i dont think mugshots are really necesary, if they are then that really is me and yes they are real

Re: forum names
Hmmm, maybe I should start using my real name too....
I'm easy really, I can accept why people may want to use a screen name, instead of their real name (perhaps in the same way some people might not want tehir date of birth visible?), and I can see why it might be beneficial to use real names too.
Anyway, I've added a field to your profiless, where you can enter your real name. So now you can have a forum name of whatever you want, but your real name will be displayed in your profile, and on your posts. I've made it compulsary to be filled in for people signing up to forum from now on, but if you could be so kind as to fill yours in on your profiles, it would be much appreciated

I read this historical post with great interest
It was generated before I even knew there was a RDMFC forum
I thought I was the only one being regularly ignored or insulted on here.
I can't see that making real names known is going to make any difference at all
the system is already flawed because no proper ground rules were set up in the beginning
and it has simply evolved without any proper set of principals.
What is the point of the forum? In one sentence of 10 words?
What on earth is the purpose of negative points?
I now have minus (-) 12 and have no knowledge why and from whom these came.
Do I really care? well no, I have more interesting things to do.
I have to say I find the forum mostly an utter waste of time.
The only thing that is useful is the quick messaging system, but we managed before that with things like e-mail and the amazing new invention, the telephone.
So you might wonder why I don't seem all that interested in the forum.
Draw your own conclusions

Paul im sorry you feel that way about the forum, (i did ask for any complaints/feedback to be made directly to me, ive check my PM`s and one 1 from you wich was then covered by andys stickey on forum etiquet)
I for one read every single post on here and yes there is some batter and the odd step to far that have subsiquently been sorted by the mod team.
There are many people very happy with the forum particualy people with less experance than yourself in the modeling world that find some of the info invaluable.
Whats the point of the forum?, take a look a Richards build threads, or mine for that matter, check feild tales out, look at the media from the club, look at the non club organised events going on bringing enjoyment to anyone that wants to attend,
You see i cant do it in ten words because theres to much going on!,
Now the + and - counters were explained when i launched them as a bit of fun and in hope to stop arguments if you disagree you can anomanusly say so, likewise if you do agree. but if you want them gone so be it, I was never going to keep everyone happy but im trying my best

Re: forum names
I would have said "careered", or "possibly" crashed Tim
In ten words or less, the forum is here to:
"Provide somewhere for members to communicate"
That's it. Full stop. As to what that means exactly, then take a look at what has been put up on the forum since it's inception. Build threads, videos, chat, jokes, "didn't we have a cracking day flying" type posts, and the occasional moan. I personally don't find that a waste of time, and judging by the number of posts on here to date, quite a few people would agree.
I'm sorry that you find it "an utter waste of time", Paul, perhaps some constructive feedback would help improve things for you? If that wouldn't then don't forget no-one is forcing anyone to read/write anything on here. It is entirely up you whether you ignore the forum completely, use it as a messaging centre, contribute with build threads, pass on knowledge to the next generation, or just have a read every so often.
Regarding ground rules, We were rather hoping that as a bunch of supposedly grown up adults, we wouldn't need to be explicitly told what is and isn't allowed. Where required, we have moderated, posted guidelines, advised on what the forum can be used for etc. trying to keep everyone happy where possible (and to my knowledge, it is going well so far).
As always, if anyone has a problem with anything, let us know what, why, and what we can do about it. My email/message inbox is always open

Don't worry John, I'm not put off by a bunch of asterixes in a line Now if they were all clumped together, now that would be a different story completely!

Sam sorry to hear about your Hampster...no matter how old you are when a pet dies its always a sad time.I.m sure you gave it a good life.
Once you get into flying you will find plenty to spend it on.
thought your real name was Pop Corn-Reviews and you used Sam as a forum name
