I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

New nitro starter for planes and helis
Hello,I wasn't sure where to post this as it applies to both planes and helis.
The new starter from align just arrived a few days ago so I thought I'd share some pics.
I haven't tried it yet but it feels very well made.
It runs off a 3s lipo between 1900mah and 2200 mah in size which fits snugly inside with a male deans connector inside and it will do up to 50cc engines and has a battery meter on the side showing the status of your lipo and also has a cutoff to stop you over discharging your battery.
This is the heli version but the plane version is the same apart from the adaptor that screws on the end.
They also claim it can give between 500 and 800 starts on one pack!
And it comes in its own case for transport.Pretty cool.
Thanks Danny.

You can't beat a good yellow box for things... I'm trying to get hold of one of them bright Yellow Pelicases as a sample for my TX and bits box. No luck as yet though

Re: New nitro starter for planes and helis
Why? Just wondering.
Of course, you could always take the motor out of the starter, put a prop on it, and bung thatin a plane with the batteries, and do away with the smelly, dirty fuely stuff!
Just a thought

Do the starters used not just slip a bit though?
It sounds like the best batteries for them would be the A123 cells. You can pull stupid high currents, and not worry about over discharging at all that jazz....

Re: New nitro starter for planes and helis
I forgot about the price, the starter without battery is £74.99 and with battery is £99.99 with an align 2150mah 25c 11.1.
The other thing I forgot to mension is there is a high amp draw cutoff in case of a flooded engine to protect the lipo,Thanks.Danny.

Re: New nitro starter for planes and helis
I feel your pain there mate,I shorted 2 flightpower 3s packs when I was charging them as a 6s pack and there was a massive spark from both balance leads and a horrible smell so I went steaming through the house and chucked them onto the grass outside and watched through the window.
They were my new packs as well, gutted.
