I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

July 23rd - Club Night.
Afternoon folks.
As the mini competition series seems to be quite popular on a club night, I thought we could run them a little more often throughout July/August. So, I'd like to officially announce the next competition clubnight will be on the 23rd July.
This time round, we shall be doing an official Spot-Landing event. The rules are simple:
Entry shall be free. The overall results winner shall be awarded an official grand prize,
See you there!

This time round, we shall be doing an official Spot-Landing event. The rules are simple:
- You can enter with whatever plane/heli/multirotor you want, and there will be classes for each aircraft type.
- There shall be a target with several zones on the strip.
- A person entering shall be required to take their aircraft off, and complete at least one circuit.
- The person shall officially announce their spot landing attempt, by calling "landing", loudly. A 5 point bonus will be awarded for comedy landing calls.
- Person shall land their aircraft, as close to the spot as possible. Points will be awarded based on what zone the aircraft comes to rest in. The closer to the spot, the more points awarded.
- There shall be bonus points awarded for the most entertaining flights/landings.
- maximum of 3 entries per pilot.
- The pilots shall remain in the pilots box at all times during their flight.
Entry shall be free. The overall results winner shall be awarded an official grand prize,
See you there!

Re: July 23rd - Club Night.
Couple of questions
will the official date be the 23rd or 24th
Will the official landing be the point of contact to where the model comes to rest
Will Tim be allowed to cheat again
Will I have a sutible plane ready
Thanks

Umm.
1. Officially, I think it will be on the 23rd July.
2. And yes, The points shall be awarded for where the aircraft comes to rest (NOT where it touches down first). If the aircraft breaks into multiple pieces, it shall be where the largest remaining part comes to rest.
3. He'll probably find a way....
4. I'm not a magic 8 ball....

Re: July 23rd - Club Night.
Well done to Andy for compiling all the scores and doing the timekeeping etc - good job someone does these things - for the benefit of all members.
I would like to propose that a maximum number of entries be included into the rules.... say 3 per pilot?
This - I think is a little fairer, plus should mean a bit more time is available for other flyers / trainees to use the strip.
Plus..... multirotors in a spot landing comp ??? Although obviously a separate class, would any score not accumulate toward an individuals overall running total?

The grand prize fund is swelling nicely. Currently we have a two pack of LightSabres, and a £5 discount of a 237TLF racing quadcopter frame....

Re: July 23rd - Club Night.
I've just checked the official weather forecast, and at the moment, it is looking good for the spot landing Competition on Thursday.
I can't decide between flying something that I can clatter into the ground without worrying about damage, or something that I can fly as precisely as possible. Which is going to be the best airframe for hitting the spot?

Re: July 23rd - Club Night.
We are on for tonight! I've got the spot marking equipment, the half decent weather has been booked, and the official grand prize has been packed.
I'll be there about 6pm later, so we shall kick off when ever I've marked the spot out, and people are ready. Don't forget you don't need a special model to enter this comp, anything that can be launched (either ROG or hand), do a circuit, and then land on the strip!
Bring your comedy landing calls too...

Not sure on the food front, I'll send Rich a message to see if he is bringing the BBQ. If not, the Official RDMFC drive through McDonalds club will be meeting in Rhuddlan at about 5.30-6pm....

Ask 'em if they can do a burger for 50p Andy - with onions, I don't mind cutting my own roll.

I'm compiling the results now. Even with some rather dodgy points deductions, I can't win...

what was disapointing is the lack of members that turned out last night. for what is the simplest comp there is.
I really dont get it.

People are busy. And have other stuff to be doing. I don't mind, it makes it easier for me to maintain my middle of the table consistency...
