I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

RDMFC Club Open Day - 14th June.
Morning all.
As you are probably aware, the Club open day is looming, with it being a week and a bit away on the 14th June, yes, that's right, the 14th June! The newsletter date was a misprint).
So, who is planning on being there, and what are you bringing?! I'm not sure if anyone wants to see any events or anything going on, so if anyone has any ideas of stuff they want to see, post them here, and I'll see what we can sort out.
I'm planning on bieng there with the usual toys There'll be some jet action, some rocket action, some gliding action (well, perhaps action is the wrong word!) and if I can find a suitably cheap MPX buddy transmitter in time, I'll be offering flights on my Jet to anyone interested
Cheers

Will be there, Sniper and sabre methinks, or possibly somthing new.
Also happy to do a stint on the gate or the barbie if the turnout demands.

Happy to help....in what ever way is required.
I did suggest months ago about a duration flight challenge..We have an Early Bird Glider with brushless motor...give it a 20/30 sec blast see how long before touch down.
Its on mode 2 with an old Futaba 35 meg Tx no buddy lead...perhaps some temp adaption so a Tx with a buddy lead could be used.We have SPEC DX6i and a JR 35 meg Tx

just to clarify..about buddy lead. More than happy for those that fly mode 2 to use the Glider without buddy lead.I was really thinking of those members that do not have their A
yet.
The Glider is only Elev.Rudder.

I don't think I've ever flown a rudder/elevator only model before... I think it would be strange to not have ailerons

Helis are always welcome Zaidy I'll have my Trex 500 with me, ready to hover around nervously. Who knows, I may even attempt a nose-in hover, and maybe, just maybe, I migth even try a circuit or three

All pilots should have A or B cerificates for the models they fly.
And if necessary supervision for those without
We are an affiliated club and obliged to comply wth BMFA recommendations

Re: RDMFC Club Open Day - 14th June.
how can you be "obliged to comply with a recomendation"?

Re: RDMFC Club Open Day - 14th June.
Leigh
Mmmm nothing fiery intended
Yes we do comply all the time.......er don't we ?
I was thinking more of the open day visitors, who may have a more relaxed view of complying with the BMFA rules
Perhaps some may need supervision if they can't prove they have valid A or B as necessary
Only a suggestion

Re: RDMFC Club Open Day - 14th June.
Paul it is normaly standered practice for any guests to bring there BMFA insurance card with them, that will state what they can fly and more importantly they are insured
No BMFA no fly simple

Re: RDMFC Club Open Day - 14th June.
Well on that note - lets just suppose by a million miles freak event that Joe ( he of joe public ) turns up for a nosey...as we are "actively" trying to encourage new members into the fold, we will allow him in yes? And then Joe asks if its possible to have a try with a model.... and a B cert holder, and approved club instructor is willing to help him experience the wonders of the sport via buddy lead and suitable model - what then?
Is Joe not covered by the instructors / clubs insurance for "trial lesson" purposes?
I realise this is no different really from any other day, but just wanted official clarification.

Re: RDMFC Club Open Day - 14th June.
as far as im aware Tim said Joe is covered for 3 attemps with an instructor and also 3 feild visits before money is needed,
This very thing happend a few nights ago at the feild, "Joe" came for a look around and Jem very kindly gave him a twiddle on Dave`s foam Trainer via the buddy box all very helpfull and should be aplorded for spending there time introducing this guy to the sights and sounds of model flying

Re: RDMFC Club Open Day - 14th June.
I'm not sure if it's correct to say that you have to be in receipt of BMFA insurance to fly model aeroplanes/helicopters/gliders/kites/rockets etc, whether an event/club open day, as we are an affiliated club we automatically take it for granted that all other flyers have BMFA insurance, there are other insurance companies that cover our chosen sport, correct me if I'm wrong, if someone turns up with the correct level of cover what will the committee decide, a club official should communicate this to the event organisers, or are we saying that a flyer must have BMFA insurance, is this not prejudicial.
some food for thought
