I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Acrylic cutting
Hi Guys
Anyone knows of a local business that supplies and cuts acrylic to precise dimensions. The material I am looking at cutting is 5mm acrylic. I have cut acrylic in the past with a jigsaw but can never get a precise clean cut? Not to mention the occasional crack !
Been in touch with various companies on line, but they either have so much business they can't be bothered replying or it's too small a job for them!
Cheers
Zaidy

Re: Acrylic cutting
What shape to you want? If you have a proper vector based drawing - as in a .dxf - you could either get it CNC milled, or laser cut or even water jet. Does it have to be acrylic? Acetal is easier to work and much less brittle
I had a set of 10 24-tooth sprockets about 5 inches in dia cut from acrylic recently by water jet. They were supposed to be acetal but the co messed up and made them from acrylic...
If you've got a back of envelope sketch and its a simple enough shape and accurately dimentioned they may well draw it up for you. That's what I do as I'm f... useless at tech drawings!
There's a number of places that will do it. Google is your friend!

Re: Acrylic cutting
Thanks for your reply Allan, I have read into the various techniques of cutting and found the various companies online, good old google, hence the post.
I am looking for a local outfit that I can approach and deal with, not some T**t 200 miles away from me!
It appears that most online companies are not interested in small jobs!
So if you have a local company phone number I will be grateful if you could email me.

Re: Acrylic cutting
Zaidy, Rich can cut Acrylic on his laser cutter. Gives a nice smooth finish too...
