I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Rhyl Airshow 31st August 1st September
As a club we have been asked to provide a static display during the full size airshow this coming weekend. As a bonus we have also been give 2 flying slots over the weekend. Aprox 1 hour on Saturday and 1 hour on Sunday We may also be called into action if a full size is delayed or cancelled.
We have been given access for 10-12 cars to drive and park directly where we will be pitched this is pretty much dead centre of the prom on the hard standing next to the lifeboat station with full view of the airshow.
Roughly the red area on this aerial pic
Can people interested please reply to this post stating what days you can help out and state if you wish to fly.
You will be required to arrive at 9am in the morning for access, any late arrivals will not be aloud to drive there car to the designated area. There is to be no vehicle movement during the course of the day! so your there all day.
If we are over subscribed (because of the 10 car limit) priority will be given to members that have supported the 2 displays we have done this year at Llanfair TH and St Asaph but all members are welcome to come along and if you wish to carry models over to display the more the merrier in my eyes.
Further details when we get them as its quite difficult to get hold of the organisers.
All wishing to fly must have the correct B cert, and have there insurance with them. I will also be carrying out model checks along with Rich to ensure all is safe. that includes checking fail safes which to a miminum must cut the throttle.
So far we have
Mark Barnes - Both days - Flying
Richard Badham - Both Days - Flying
Jem Mathews - Sunday - Flying
Andy Sayle - Sunday - Static
Alan Patrick - Both Days - ?
I look forward to seeing you all there.

I think the limit is 10 cars only. No mention of the number of people.
Come to think of it, are vans allowed? If not, can I grab a lift with someone!

Re: Rhyl Airshow 31st August 1st September
Entrance to the display site will be via the coach entrance of the car park west of the sun centre, I'll be there from 0830.
Not sure why you're asking Allan, all RDMFC members are welcome to the display, it's the number of vehicles that has a restriction.
No mention of the size of vehicles, there is a maximum of 12 vehicles.
Only stipulation no cars full of family members, if a vehicle is parked for the display then they must be for transportation of models.
Anyone wishing to fly must have the relevant BMFA "B" cert.
No "B" no fly.

Re: Rhyl Airshow 31st August 1st September
As part of the display none of us have the relevant cert to fly the multi rotors unless a flyer has the cert from elsewhere.
If you have the "B" fixed wing then you can fly fixed wing.
If you have the "B" helicopter then you can fly helicopters.
If you want to take a "B" cert glider Andy the lead examiner has to have the relevant cert. to conduct the test.

Re: Rhyl Airshow 31st August 1st September
The airshow is free anyway just drop any family members off on the road before you turn into the car park, they simply walk down to the lifeboat house to join you.
My family are walking down mid morning and will be sitting with me.

Re: Rhyl Airshow 31st August 1st September
Therefore there's no restriction on people (Jo Public) who want to come and be on the beach? In which case it could be tricky with models and flying. Or we/they issue some sort of pass?

Re: Rhyl Airshow 31st August 1st September
The beach is closed Alan, in previous years the beach was cleared aprox 1 hour before the mid day start of the "show" all entry points to the beach were roped off this is done by various air cadets lifeguards and volunteers.
Are static display will need to be roped off as I believe we will be on the Prom pavement next to the military display.
The prom pavement is were the spectators will be all static displays are either in the events arena or to the right of it by the life boat station where we are.
When flying we will be on the beach 50m in.
I appreciate the questions Allan but please don't jump to conclusions they are fully aware of our requirements and more so of the Full Size. as said all further details will be published once we have them.

Re: Rhyl Airshow 31st August 1st September
OK, I can do one of the days, so whichever is lower subscribed, I'll happily do. I can bring several models for static display, and would be happy to fly a few EDFs, the buzzard and the Spitfire - although I assume we will be landing on the sand? I have, in times gone by, flown at large public displays, and flying in front of large crowds does not phase me.
Please let me know which day you would prefer me to do, - if you want me to participate.

Re: Rhyl Airshow 31st August 1st September
Thanks for the info Mark. I'm not jumping to conclusions, I'm prodding for details and info which seems to be few, far, contradictory and vague!
For example: - If the static display is roped off why have it?
With just a few days to go its getting left awfully late...

sorry Allan, but if it seems infor is few and far betwen contradictory and vague but myself and Rich have been away at the nats for 3 and 4 days since we had the official OK from the organisersAllan Patrick wrote:Thanks for the info Mark. and as for your question I reply with a quote from you.
"Will Jo Public have access to the area where we will be parking? If so then we will need to fence off an area otherwise they will simply stand on planes to get a better view..."
sorry sorry if I may think your being contradictory. we had a roped off static display at Abergele and every other display we have done so dont really see what your asking to be honest
Fact is we have reported the details we know, we have not done it before and yes we may have to wing it a little on the day/days but im sure as a club we will do a grand job as we always do,

Re: Rhyl Airshow 31st August 1st September
Rhyl Airshow
RDMFC have been approached to attend the Rhyl Airshow this coming weekend.
We have a maximum parking area of 12 vehicles.
Entrance to the display area will be from the car park to the west of the Sun centre via the coach entrance.
We should aim to be there from 0845- 0900.
If asked we are from Rhyl & District Model Flying Club.
Mark & I will go to the site Wednesday or Thursday to survey the area.
The area we will inhabit for the 2 days will be directly in front of where we enter, our vehicles will be with us.
The models will have to be protected by something to stop people touching.
We have 1 slot Saturday approx. 1500 to 1600 this can change at very short notice.
We have 1 slot Sunday approx. 1500 – 1600 this can change at very short notice.
If there is a delay in the full size display we may be called on to fly at very short notice, similarly if there is a problem with the full size we won’t fly at all.
I have no idea if we can enter or leave once the display starts, although I doubt it very much if we will be allowed to move vehicles.
There are an estimated 10,000 spectators each day.
We will fly off the sand in front of the events arena, where the Falcons have a designated landing area not sure where this is until the day.
There will be a display briefing both days, further info. as we have it.
I have put who's attending threads up, 1 for Saturday attendees & 1 for Sunday, no questions on those threads just whether you will or will not be attending.
Thanks
Rich
