I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Gaui 330xs quad incoming.
Morning peeps, I just ordered one of these as they're half price.
http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/gaui_330x-s_quad_flyer_w/scorpion_motors_210001-p-12495.html
Been tempted for a while so I think a future FPV project is incoming later in the summer.
Now there's a few members been dabbling with quads feel free to throw down any build or setup advise. This is all new to me so any help would be most welcome.
Not sure when I'll be starting the build but I'll put some build pics in this thread.
Danny.

That's a good price! I think it is a ready to go setup, so get it flying, and then figure out how to add FPV to it...

Indeed Andy, I've just rummaged through the box and it looks pretty complete.
I'm torn between a park flyer receiver or full range one.
What would you do?

Full range, all the time. Is the frame Carbon? that will make a nice shield for a 2.4GHz rf link in certain orientations. Also, if you are going to go FPV, you want as much range as possible for FPV missions!
I hope I can see it at the indoor on Sat

Sound, full range it is then.
It appears to be just metal. Can't see any carbon so hopefully should be okay.
It may be done by Saturday, looks like a fairly quick build.

Metal is just as bad as carbon when it comes to the propogation of rf on the 2.4Ghz band. Water isn't good too. Just get your aerial away from the bulk of the frame, escs and stuff, and it will be fine and dandy. Probably!

I got it wrong Andy, I've just unpacked everything and its all that G10 stuff.
Feels a bit flimsy though.
I've assembled the wheels, and the build quality is pretty good, but the instructions are badly translated though.

G10 sheet is flimsy (unless it is really thick) until you brace it with some perpendicular aligned parts, then it should be nice and stiff. If they have designed it right

Re: Gaui 330xs quad incoming.
Yeah I've just assembled the frame and it does seem better. I've ran some thin ca along all the joins, but I imagine it'll break easy in a crash against something solid.
There isn't much building to do with these. I was hoping for something more to do.

They do go together quickly don't they? Have you flown it yet!
The hardest bit I find, is making all the wiring neat. That and telling which way round the bloody things are in the air. I had a couple of flights with my F330 outside yesterday, and it was a right pain trying to figure out which way was forward, especially when you get a bit of altitude against a bright sky....
I'm thinking that the TBS discovery I have would help a great deal there, the wonky front arms will help orientate it at a distance....
Cheers

Haven't flown it yet, still trying to figure out a neat way of doing the wiring.
For orientation I'm just using the ping pong ball on a rod at the front. Gonna have to try some bright props at the front.
Will you be bringing yours on Saturday? I wouldn't mind having a nosey at your setup.

All being well, yes! I'm half tempted to get the props balanced on the Discovery too, and bring that down for a test flight or two....

I'm actually surprised you haven't asked for a go yet, and in fact, I have lost a bet with myself over it. I said to myself, on the way to the first indoor meet I brought it too, "I bet Barnes wants a go, I give it 2 flights before he does"......
