I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Weather
This weather's just what we want sunshine and a fair breeze, great for drying the strip, and looking at the forecast there's no rain forecast for the rest of the coming week. It'll be great to get back on there do some work and get flying again.
Re: Weather
The entrance needs repairing big time! Massive ruts even the area where we use to park up by the gate is damaged. It really need loads of hard core dumping by the entrance past the gate and around toward the hedge!
Re: Weather
Personally don't give a damn about the parking Zaid I want the strip repaired after last years fiasco
Re: Weather
Lol, of course the strip needs major repair but to get to the pits the entrance needs to be sorted out otherwise few people will have major repair bills to their cars. Also if no one can get to the pits to park up and fly what is the point of people joining the club !
From my point of view I use to fly all year round but been asking for the area adjucent to the gate to be sorted for years but to no avail !
I am sure the committee will sort something out.

Re: Weather
TBH, no work is possible at the moment due to the condition of the entrance area, I think it would be a waste of money, time & effort to start anything until the grass starts to grow which in turn starts the drying progress.
Yes, most would agree there is a lot of work required to return the entrance, strip & taxiway to it's early 2012 condition.
The committee haven't let it pass them by, arrangements are in place once finalised with the farmers.

Re: Weather
Looking forward to flying at the field this season. I'm available for helping out with any repair work when required.

Re: Weather
Just to reinforce what Rich has posted - the strip is and has been a big topic for the committee in the last few weeks. And this has included the gateway area
So, fear not. All should be well
I was there last Sunday and the whole field is more waterlogged than it first appears. After flying I walked directly from the strip towards the road (not back towards the gateway) to investigate the ditch along the road. Despite wearing wellies I had to back track a couple of times as the water was so deep on what appeared to be very shallow standing water that it was in danger of coming over the tops. The ditch is full and was flowing towards the stream. There's another huge puddle at the western end of the strip as well. So there's still a fair bit of draining and drying to go yet
