I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Another successful afternoon
Once again a big 'thanks' to everyone who offered advice and encouragement yestetday afternoon, feeling more comfortable in the open space, getting more out of my mcpx. So much so that I've bought a used 130x off the Modelsport forum today, should be here mid week, can't wait.

Good stuff Jason. The 130x is a great flyer and a great learning tool.
They have some issues out of the box, especially resonating vibrations.
Here's a link from the heli freak forum so you can acquaint yourself with the tweaks and tricks to help.
http://www.helifreak.com/forumdisplay.php?f=299
With it being second hand it may well have everything sorted already but if you have any problems just shout out.
Here's the list of parts mine needed to smooth everything out.
Better bearings for the tail. I went for the xtreme bearing set. No more in and out tail play.
Metal front gear because the plastic one is very soft. They have now started to include this in newer kits.
Carbon boom and torque tube from xtreme. This totally eliminated the noise of the ringing inside the boom.
Metal tail pitch slider removes a lot of slop in the tail.
Yours may not need these tweaks as blade have updated some parts here and there in the newer kits.
Looking forward to seeing it fly next week.
Danny.

Don't let Danny put you off he's a proper helicopter pilot so there for has to change everything and talk about curves and vibes to discise the fact he really wants another plane

No more planes for a while now mr Barnes. Unless you have a spare room for storage.

Re: Another successful afternoon
Thanks for the advice and links. As far as I can tell this 130x has had new blades, nothing else. I am reading a lot of people complain about the gears in the gears tail are prone to stripping, have you experienced this? If I was to look at an exploded diagram would I know which bearings to get?

Re: Another successful afternoon
The tail gears are soft but I haven't had a problem with them. The front umbrella gear is the one that can strip without warning. It's the gear on the main shaft.
The back bearings that most people change are the 2 flanged ones that the tail shaft runs on. If you hold the rear blade grips and give a little tug to see if it moves in and out.
If it doesn't move in and out then don't worry about them.
They eventually develop play because the vibes shake them into getting sloppy, but just give it a try first, and if there's no vibes then don't worry about it.
Here's a couple of links to the bearings and the umbrella gear in case you need them.
http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/blh3735_optional_metal_bevel_gear-p-21006.html
http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/lynx_130x_super_precise_bearing_replacement_lx0376-p-22480.html
Give it a try first though, if it flys fine then wait until you need the parts before upgrading them. If its one of the newer kits it may be fine.
Let us know how it goes and enjoy. They fly awesome.

Thanks Danny, just get a message from the seller who says it has a Microheli tail slider as well as new blades, he says it's not far off new and he has had no problems with the back-end.

Looks good mate, the tail pitch slider is one of the most useful upgrades.

Re: Another successful afternoon
Yeah some of the bits are expensive. Sometimes kings Lynn models are cheaper than fast lad. Here's a link.

Doing an eBay search can come up with cheap parts too.

Re: Another successful afternoon
Well it turned up this morning, looks to be in good condition, battery on charge prior to first flight...
Blade 130x by supervee_2000, on Flickr
...it has also come with 2 Gens Ace 450 lipos, unfortunately the balance lead doesn't fit my balance charger so I'll need to get one sorted from the bay.

Re: Another successful afternoon
Popped to Hobby Corner to pick up a blue/white canopy, white skids and a spare Overlander lipo. Spooled it up in the lounge and straight away I can tell it's a beast, needs plenty of room, still I managed to get a decent hover on the settings from the manual.

Yay someone else has a mcpx bl. Hoping to give it a good thrashing on Saturday as long as the batteries arrive in time.
You flying on Saturday Neil?

Re: Another successful afternoon
Forgot to say I got an adaptor lead for my charger for 2.99, the same one you suggested from RC hero, Neil. You'll have to give them a ring they seem to have a good selection of standard spares.
