I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ Smile .

This little turbine of mine doesn't half drink some fuel! it burns its way through 2 litres of kerosene in about 10 minutes or so, and has rpaidly depleted my supply of B&Q's finest filtered paraffin!

Just a quick question anyway, and I did ask this down at the field last weekend but my memory was addled from the fumes, does anyone know a cheap place to buy paraffin from by the litre? B&Q charge about 5 notes for 4.5 litres, so anything less than one of our finest English UK Pound coins per liter would be good Smile

Cheers

HTM is the first port of call methinks, nice and easy to get to Smile Thanks for the other sources too, being a bit of a cheapskate, I'll end up going for the cheapest after considering how much it costs to get there!

Paraffin/Kerosene is pretty much the same stuff. Jet A1 fuel is basically the same, just loaded with other gubbins to help prevent waxing, icing and algae. Most of the chemicals added to make Jet A1 are nasty stuff really. Plus Jet 1A absolutely STINKS!

Turbines will burn pretty much any fuel from Diesel, to Paraffin, to powdered coal dust, to gas. The little ones are usually designed to run on paraffin/Kerosene (mine is), as it is commonly available in a number of formats. Before I use any fuel, it is filtered before mixing in about 5% turbine oil (or high grade 2 stroke oil), then filtered again on it's way into my fuel station. It gets filtered again on it's way out and into the model, and again before the fuel pump. There is one last filter before the engine too Smile

Andy you can get your Jet oil from Hawarden airfiled. It's alot cheaper than from the model jet suppliers. I haven't bought any for some time as I purchased a crate, it was that cheap. 2 litres of kerosene would last me 8 minutes max.
