I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
As most of you are aware we as a club have been invited to put on a display of model aircraft at St Asaph Rotary Club county fair. This is to be held on the 19th Aug at Llanerch Hall. This is the confirmed and cast in stone date! and looks likely to be a very good event
The invite is for flying and static models, we have a neighbouring field for flying that shares a long fence line with the main field and an area allocated on the main event field for static or display models adjacent to this fence. This looks like a prime opportunity to promote the club and, if we choose, to recruite new members
For this event, therefore, we need planes, helis, of all types. Flying or static. Big ones, little ones... Two or three gazeebos and tables. As many people as we can muster - so put the 19th in your diary today! Even if you can only be there for an hour or two please come along and help. If you have visitors or guests that weekend, bring them as well! They can have a nice day out at the rest of it

Re: St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
Dont know if they are good enough for what the club would want to display, but they are new, so I will polish up the funfly and both the "Ferrari" and hawk flying wings to bring along if it helps out! (Will leave them in the car if they are deemed too naff!)
Will be only too happy to support the club anyway I can!
Count me in as a deffo!
Family will be coming along anyway!

I'll be happy to fly or static display, main question being is the venue suitable for flying large stuff ? Second question whose responsible for controlling "Joe Public" ??

Crowd control is via a barb wire fence
Flight line control via me
we have plenty of airspace for large models (arguably better than our field) the unknown at the moment is the "runway" I will be going down this week to see what we have and what we can do.

Re: St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
Great stuff Brian
Here's a pic of part of the field for flying in and the fence that will be the crowd control line. Its a barbed wire top strand and looks a bit flimsy in the pic but is ok
Also a site map. The crowd control line is on the right and 'X' mark the spot for our gazeebos. Its about 5 meters from the gazeebos to the fence and an access track runs in this gap so very convienient to pass models over

Re: St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
I'll be along to help, with crowd control/flying/static models, I have a gazebo & a couple of folding tables.
Maybe some printed flyers to hand out on the day to prospective members with general info about the club would be a good idea.

Re: St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
Am I correct in thinking to fly a public display you need a "B" Cert?
If I'm still home I can bring a couple of DLG's and Trainer type stuff.

Re: St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
I think that was mentioned in a post on here a couple of weeks ago Marty - pretty sure someone said in passing 'B cert' for flyers which is a pity! would have loved a whizz around that field!

Re: St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
Yeah Ben, Just checking.
Need to do a "B" with my DLG's but not sure how to do a stall turn without a rudder? ...... but that will be for another thread.

Re: St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
If you look in the BMFA handbook there are similar tests for gliders, slope, electric & thermal
Re: St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
Thanks for that Rich, I have read the hand book and in the "B" cert for silent flight - thermal, section "J" It states that a stall turn must be performed and as I originally stated - "Need to do a "B" with my DLG's but not sure how to do a stall turn without a rudder? ...... "
Re: St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
You don't need a rudder. If you set your aileron differential correctly and apply the right amount of aileron at the right moment the differential drag and virtually instantaneous stall of one wing just before the other is enough to start the rotation. Then as the model begins to drop the tail will pull it round. Bob's you uncle

Thanks Allen, an interesting idea. I've started another thread on this in the general section.

I'll bring along my "GAZEEBO" on Sunday 19th to the Llanerch craft fair.

Re: St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
I'll be there for at least the morning part of the day. Not got a gazebo, but I do have a fold up table that I'll bring.

Ok, that's three gazeebos and a number of tables. Andy, will your gazeebo and tables be available all day?

Re: St Asaph County Fair - Llanerch Hall
The table can be used as long as it is needed, If someone could make sure it is brought back, that would be grand. I've not got a gazebo by the way
