I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Re: Hammer
I got few questions about the impregnation - so here is some info for you guys.
1. The wings will come sanded smooth - so you can just wipe the dust of and cover it without any painting/sanding - many people do so and no complains.
2. If you require even better and smooth surface- then prime it with any wood varnish (I thing that's the right word) of your choice (easy coat, nitro-cellon etc.) - sand it - repeat all above if you need glass like smoothness.
There's many techniques to finish the wing - just go with your favourite one - the main thing is - impregnating is not necessary if you will cover with film - and will not fall apart if not impregnated

Re: Hammer
I actually quite like the idea of leaving it wood effect, so a few coats of Poly-C acrylic varnish and maybe a graphic stripe or whatever here and there for me.
Incidentally Rob, if its any cheaper for you, I'm sure we would all be happy to have 'em all delivered to one address?

Re: Hammer
Thanks Tim - I can send to 1 address if everybody is happy with it
As for the varnish - apparently it is the most time consuming part of the build

Re: Hammer
Is there provision for ballast in this model?
Im new to power nose convert gliders, and have a few dumb questions
before I go getting some gear. In normal non power mode, radio will be likely powered by usual 4 cell nimhs, or in my case 2s lipo and reg, but when the power nose is fitted I guess the radio power stays the same, with motor power only taken form the flight pack
( 4s lipo in this case I assume ? )
Where does the lipo live - in the nose with the motor or in the fus??
If so... how is the COG then altered to compensate for the weight?
Any other advice or links to articles + know hows etc?

Re: Hammer
Rob...I have been told that I need a Ramiel as well so whilst I still have some of my own damn money, I'll have one mate - no rush, so if it will fit in one of the hammer boxes for shipping, thats fine.
What motor ( axi please ) esc and servos are best for ramiel - I have stuff back here, but its mostly reserved for other models I already have, so, if you have what I need, include them also please.

Re: Hammer
OK thanks guys. 28mm ?? Thats a bit small for 1kw+ LOL
One of the suggested motors earlier is the EMax BL2826/06 and I think Im right in saying they use stator dimensions in that numbering...actual outside of can is 39mm I think.

Re: Hammer
I'm back...
Ok. Artur uses 45mm spinner on his and without a gearbox there is 40mm room - with a gearbox motor goes back a bit and there is 45mm room.
Will send me more info tonight he's mixing some epoxy at the moment and couldn't speak .
As for Ramiel
axi 2203/52 (my favourite)
axi 2203/RACE (nutters favourite LOL )
axi 2203/46 (Barnes favourite)
ESC - 6A Plush for 52 and 46 - Race one may burn it if you go crazy for too long - so 10A is a safe one - but I know guys uses 6A with it as well - just not full throttle all the time
servos HS-35HD on rudder and elevator (very quick) or dymond 47S (S - the quick one) or you can go for cheaper hxt500 and be happy aswell
ailerons JR DS-318 (not cheap) JR 316 , hs-45HD - or cheap 9g servo hxt900, turnigy etc.

Re: Hammer
While you on it Rob send me a better motor & ESC than Mark & Tim have in the Ramiels'
Think you're pushing it a bit with a 39mm Tim, not much room for the wind to pass through & get the magic smoke out
