I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Cool probably best to avoid the snaps and blenders on the maiden Joking aside very nice Tim and just to let you know Will has got his tug serviceable again although by now he should be busy with his first grandchild.

Nice one Tim.
What was the AUW in the end?
What was the wind speed?

Re: Grunau baby
Ha. AUW 8.5lbs which gave a pretty low wing loading of 15oz - no wonder she struggled in the 30MPH wind.

Andy Ellison grabbed a half decent decent shot of its maiden flight.

Yup, or just keep her for calmer days and aerotows...which was my main reason for it. I'm just bending a new Ash skid for her, - the original matchwood one broke on my less than great landing.

Re: Grunau baby
Well that perfect day arrived today, and Will Bertoni called me to offer a few tugs :-)
AS well as seeing how she actually behaved on the flat, I wanted to check out the dolly I had made, as well as the new skid and of course... the home made tow release. First attempt showed the dolly to work great, but the towline somehow snapped /came off ( we never found the connector link and line ) so a very short flight ensued, all ending fine with a nice, though slightly fast landing back on the strip. Re jigged the towline, and second effort was excellent, reaching a good height, and around 5 minute flight.
We enjoyed a few more, eventually reducing the CAR, and dialing out almost all the exponential -but a broken tug prop stopped play for the day, but all in all, very successful, and big thanks to Will, and ground crew Bob jetman Gadsby, and Pete Slater. Some good onboard video from the keyfob camera is loading u to the tube as I type.[img][/img]
