I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Grunau baby
Im sure I posted about this before, but darned if I can remember
Anyway, probably going to post a few more questions and stuff on it, so may as well have new thread. Picked it up S/H last week, and just started a first look and fettle.
Leaving the 3.5 mtr wings aside for a while, I started by giving the nicely solartex covered white fuselage a real good cleaning, and hid a couple of very small rips with some non scale decals and reg numbers. Seems nicely made, with accurate and neat joints, strong ply front end, and nice open frameworking as shown by the tailplane construction.
I fished out 1.6 lbs of church roof which was flopping around a bit in the nose - will have to see how we can maybe reduce that dead weight with some large A123 cells or summat.
It has standard S148s on rudder elevator and airbrakes, but the elevator one is showing signs of top housing wear, so will be replaced.
Pushrod to elevator, with closed loop via idler crank to rudder.
Changed the clevis' as they looked a little rusty.
The seller claims to have some sort of tow release and cockpit / screen to send on, and it really is crying out for a bod in the open plan office - so maybe I can modify the old WW1 chappie I found in the bits box.
She scrubbed up well I think

Re: Grunau baby
Found the tailplane mounting plates were loose on one side of the fus fixing, so repaired that too.
Repaired a split in the hardwood skid, and blended in the skid fittings around the nose area with epoxy and microballons - where it looks like previous hard use had mucked it up a bit.
Decided to strip out all the gear and replace with new ply radio tray, and new servos, battery and switch harness etc.
Once thats all done, I'll start on the wings.

Re: Grunau baby
It could be that it is my screen that just needs a bit of a clean, but the photo you posted does look like it has a bit of a glow to it!

Hope so Allan...I'm planning to maiden her on the Orme one day early next week - and if anyone with a suitable tug is appearing at the field, I'd love to try her on the towline too.

I think Will Bedrtoni's Maule is out of commission at the moment and Rich is in Arizona for the best part of a fortnight Tim
