I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Club night 7/7/11
The forecast for today isn't looking good , I wonder if any of you chaps who live in the Rhyl area would post a weather update here later today? I don't fancy the 110 mile round trip for nothing, if you know what I mean.
Cheers

Re: Club night 7/7/11
Here's the first weather update from St Asaph, looking towards Rhyl. 7/8 cloud cover, wind approx 12mph (southerly), warm, no rain. Some of the cloud looks quite grey.
I'll be heading over to the field anyway, on the off chance I can sneak a flight in with the Fun Cub, or the Wing. I've got my pass out of rthe night, so I'm determined to use it wisely!

Think it may be the Orme for me from noon, and then well see how things look for the field later.

Lunchtime weather report from St Asaph:
Temperature is still warm, around 16 degrees or so. Sky is looking a lot brighter now, although still about 7/8 cluod cover with a mix of altostratus and cumulus. Wind is still around 10-12mph, but has swung around to south westerly.

Re: Club night 7/7/11
Thanks Andy, is that altostratus and cumulus or Altocumulus and Cumulonimbus? Just checking
Re: Club night 7/7/11
Andy that was impressively detailed.Have you considered becoming a tv weather girl.
I assume you already have a pointy stick?

Definitely altostratus and cumulus.....
The sun is out now, although the cloud cover is still about 7/8 or so. The altostratus looks like it has pretty much gone though, and is looking more like stratocumulus. There is still some cumulus floating around though. No rain to report as yet, and the wind remains around 10-12mph average....
TV weather girls... mmmmmm, I'm sure they cannot fail to be impressed with my pointy stick....

Re: Club night 7/7/11
mmm, might be a little windy for the Disco. (or is it me who's windy? lol)
I've got 2 over 8 reall high, cirrus but it's blowing about 18 - 22 mph but the Sun has got his hat on!

Re: Club night 7/7/11
Good stuff, it's clearing up slowly here, the cloud base is lifting, and the cumulus clouds are getting smaller and more spaced out. The sun is out, although the wind is still up around 15mph.... XCweather tells me it is due to drop around 6-7pm though, so I'll head over to the field for a look see anyway.

Back to almost full cloud cover, wind is about 12mph, and the temperature has dropped. No sign of any rain though. I'm heading over to the field in half an hour or so...

Crash bang wallop. Love it!
Just a flying visit for me last night, I was absolutely shattered, so went home for an early night. Had a few flights with the FunCUb though, and STOL is where it's at this summer!

Quality spread, 14 square yards of carnage lol.
Lost radio as Andy can comfirm. had time to make a brew before it hit the floor. Cheep orange 6ch RX in it dont think it liked the range (although Ive used this RX alot it has only been in shokkies and park fly). And I know people have had good results with them just not me.
Ahh well one less thing to pack for the weekend

Re: Club night 7/7/11
It certainly looked like the model "held the last known good" signal, which unfortunately happend to be about 30 degrees of bank, and about half power, right the way from about 30 metres up, to the ground (and beyond!).
Anyone else using the Orange RXs would be wise to range check them thoroughly before using them I reckon!
