I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Re: Should Have Bought Futaba!!!!
That's excellent that is Alan. Thanks for the info.
For those that haven't read the link,it's basically Spektrum bringing out their new DSMX.
It is similar to the last jump from DSM to DSM2.All our current transmitters will work with the new DSMX receivers.
If you wanted to just use DSMX then you can convert your current transmitter to DSMX and get some extra benefits.Cool.Longer range is one of them benefits.
I think I can smell an 11X for the summer.
Danny.

Re: Should Have Bought Futaba!!!!
Will you be able to switch between DSM2 and DSMX ? in other words is it backwards compatible to your current R/X's ?
As per Allan's title I'm glad I stuck with Futaba, may have had to spend a little more, but only done it once

Re: Should Have Bought Futaba!!!!
Yeah Bri they are backward compatable.
Its just a natural evolution, Im glad im with a manufacture that is heavy on R&D and constant development, not one that is just sitting on there lorrals making tupaware

Re: Should Have Bought Futaba!!!!
My word, there's some marketing bullsheet in that advert!
The only real advantage of dsmx that I can weed out of the poo, is that it has significantly higher coding gain, which basically means it is easier for signals to be heard by receivers in noisy environments (i.e. where the 2.4GHz band might be clogged up by loads of users, wifi etc etc....)

Other than the I told you Spektrum would copy the leader eventually
I just seems they have at last gone with their version of a FASST system

I'm not sure I understand, I thought the Leader of the Pack, was Jeti Duplex....
Afterall, Fasst doesn't have telemetry does it?

Re: Should Have Bought Futaba!!!!
More HERE and HERE
My understanding is that it is both foward and backward compatible but at the lowest common denominator, ie DSM2. EG:- DSMX Tx working to DSM2 Rx uses DSM2; DSMX Tx working to DSMX Rx uses DSMX; DSM2 Tx to DSM2 Rx uses DSM2; DSM2 Tx working to DSMX Rx uses DSM2. Only some Tx are upgradeable(costs more here in rip off Brittan than in the USA) and the moduls are not. There is a question mark over the ability to use the chinese clones with a DSMX Tx. It, no doubt, will all become clear in the fullness of time. As for me, I think a UHF(433mHz) LRS FHSS system looks interesting and not much more expensive.

Re: Should Have Bought Futaba!!!!
Do you still need a fuselage full of R/X's stroke satellites and wiring to get a readable signal
Re: Should Have Bought Futaba!!!!
We've been discussing the dubious merits of this lot http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=48047 - I see no evidence to suggest increased range, just better rejection of noise....and frankly, I cant see the need to spend more wonga on it at all.

Sorry like most people I forgot Jeti existed.
Why would you want telemetry, you don't fly enough to have relialble data.

Brian keep a close eye on Futaba,I've had a little rep insider knowledge today.
I'm sworn to secrecy.
The part I can share is that the 8FG is being discontinued and something exciting is about to happen.
You're good a digging so I have faith in you.
Danny.
