I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

I thought it was Friday 13th today
2.6M Comp Yak had bad luck today , initially I think the engine has seized but will strip & check tomorrow, tried to make the strip but it didn't make it,DOH..!, hit the fence box instead my fault, I thought for minute it was going to get me for ringing it out a bit although I managed to scurry away rapidly. A couple of hours with the cyno, glass cloth & a bucket of filler might do the trick, no picks sorry if someone else has one or two can I have them posted here.
I've just checked on some engine prices in the UK, pistons are £12.99 each & barrels are £38 each

Still think that fence box and pilots box was better off together in the centre of the stripline
Sorry to hear that Rich - but I am sure you will have it all sorted out soon.

However, in this case you had the impossible situation of
"Where does a Gorilla decide to sit when it comes in your living room?"
Answer
"Anywhere it likes"
In this incedent THE BOX was THE landing point. Unavoidable. Glad you escaped and wern't injured

Re: I thought it was Friday 13th today
Sorry Tim I think the box is best where it is, Richie's circumstances were bad luck for sure but when the box is in the middle it's far more of a magnet for landing models particularly with novice/training pilots from either end of the strip. I saw a lot of near misses whilst instructing when the box was mid strip.

IMO box is good where it is
Re: I thought it was Friday 13th today
Rich I know this is off topic but will you be at the field tomorrow?
I have the money for the fuel and I really need some, I think I can squeeze 2 more flights out of what I have left.

Re: I thought it was Friday 13th today
I dont want to start an argument - 'cos frankly it dont bother me that much - however I am surely entitled to my opinion as a paid up club member.
All I was saying is that I couldn't see what was wrong with it where it was before, and I know others have expressed a similar view.
My "theory" was that if the box and the pilots are all in the same place, that's only one potential "target" to hit, and the best place I find ( personal opinion only of course ) to stand and fly - is mid way down the side of the strip, which allows best positioning for landing /take offs in either direction due to prevailing winds etc.
The fence box, and properly defined pilots box used to be in that place, so it must at some time - by some people - have been thought to be the best place. C'est la vie.

Hi Tim, as a fully paid up member you are fully entitled to your opinion, can the mods move the posts/comments about fence box location to club matters please, I've put a topic in there ready.
Enigine in bits, big end needle roller bearing seized, parts of the bearing gone up the inlet tract onto top of piston slight damage to pistons, barrels seem Ok. New crank pistons & gasket set to rebuild.

Re: I thought it was Friday 13th today
Hi Tim,
Plenty of oil on all parts inside engine, can only assume just rubbish material the bearings are made of, unless I have run it lean or something in the past, it did get a good workout last year doing a full IMAC season.

Just had a look, I thought a crank and rods would have cost more - £65 from innovative-rc. But, no stock
