I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Re: IMAC Weekend
Practice Day Saturday:
After ariving friday night Thomas, Daz, Matty and Sean were all set up at the field bright and early 9.30am ish, joined shortly by Mal and Phil.David H, Barry and David L arived later on to enjoy the conditions.
Wind was the order of the day with it blowing right down the strip at a steady 10-15mph all day gusting to 20 on the odd landing atempt!
The day past pretty much insident free bar Sean having an silencer issue, with plenty of flights were had by all,
To stop Daz moaning about his snaps we all had abit of a kick around to distract him. All i can say is were all better pilots than footballers:o

Re: IMAC Weekend
Comp Day Sunday:
I was awoken early by the southerners that had taken resident on my drive so we headed to the field, With Rhyl`s biggest turn out for some years (13) flying begain at 10.05am with little old me up first.
Daz and Matt were good enough to let me play with there H9 Carden Yak (thats a million) which made Daz use an aparently non set up Comp ARF (insert roll eyes icon here).
The standerd of flying through out the day was supurb in akward strong cross wind conditions, and everyone performed well.
Sportsmans was a good close battle and looking at the scores places changed with every flight! Daz desurves a medal for calling for 4 of the 6 and sorting 2 planes during the rounds.
Inter was another good battle with Thomas moving up and Luke flying really well only settled due to some rotten luck
Advanced, Phil and Mal were hard at it and flying great, Especialy Phil who was on a lonner plane for his Unknown
Unlimited was a battle Royal with Dave L and Mr Poots in a level of flying that just blows me away!
Freestlyes:
By this time a local crowed had amassed to watch a 4 awsome flights to music with a real mix of flying styles and music all 4 vids to come!
It was really good to see those club members that did turn up to suport the event and help in the smooth running of the comp, Special thanks to Ziadys better half for saving the freestyle rounds by bringing a CD player!
Full Results to come, but now im off for a rest as im knackard, Thanks IMAC UK, and the Dorgans. Same time next year?

Re: IMAC Weekend
It was a great pleasure to witness such an event, the freestyle flying was great to watch (so close and personal). I highly recommend it to our club members for next time.

Re: IMAC Weekend
really enjoyable, the flying and the banter. Z you shouldn' t take the P***
out of Mrk.
Well done on your placing Mark.I agree with BC in his posting
In my opinion the three judges were biased towards the visitors. One Judges scoring was not valid anyway. His scoring clerk was not trained up.

Yeh well done Mark, put yourself under pressure using someone else's model, never easy particularly in a good blow
Re: IMAC Weekend
A couple of my photos from the day, got some more but too Kerry Packered to edit and re-size them tonight
First one show our Chairman trying to convince the world he's not hungover
Second one Mark returning his Hertz rental Yak after a successful flight

Re: IMAC Weekend
Thanks for the well done`s guys, and sorry Z but spelling was never my strong point!,
I really enjoyed this weekend as i did last year, as im sure Rich and Bri can confirm the experiance of competeing face to face with some top fliers is a real eye opener, last year with the electric was abit of a laff but to have the same machinery as a 12 year old (no shame in that really as little Mat Dorgan is awsome for one so young) and to be totaly out flown, all be it only by about 15% on the marks, really shows up the weaknesses in my flying,
Once again though im happy as a constant improvment is being made, and spotting what i was doing wrong and correcting it for the latter flights worked well! Sport flying is easy flying a straight line is not!
Im sure the club lads that came along will also agree that these top level guys are so aprochable and freindly you cant fail to have a good day out.
I will be back!

Re: IMAC Weekend
Yes enjoyed it - and well done Mark. Must say that I was very surprised at the results of the freestyle - all did very well of course, but if only for the sheer "difference" in the presentation done by Thomas - he should have come at least 2nd if not 1st - I know the explanation was made that the judges ( I dont know which ones ) felt some of his moves were considered too dangerous...but as an onlooker - it was both entertaining and spectacular.
.....and barely more dangerous than the winner. Robbed he was, robbed.

Yeah to be fair Thomas is a special tallent!, Ive disagreed with some of his youtube vids in the past but having spent some real time with him this weekend he is such a nice lad who has a control of an aeroplane like no other!
All the freestyle vids are underway now so look out over the next few days

Re: IMAC Weekend
I agree Tim.Didn't think his moves were dangerous just exciting. If it had been club flying then perhaps but this was Free Style. The Judges should have sat further back.It could be considered dangerous if someone has not flown for weeks/months then flies without being checked out

Re: IMAC Weekend
Thomas is undoubtedly an astounding talent and probably deserved better than fourth out of four but he's still a "rough cut diamond" in need of that final polish to achieve what I'm sure will be his final brilliance. I seem to remember exactly the same happening to a young NFJ when he first did Freestyle for IMAC judges. It's not for the judges, who are on the day the people you have to perform for and please not the onlookers, to move there position backwards to feel safe it's for the pilot to position his routine to please the judges but still leave them a comfort zone JMHO

Re: IMAC Weekend
Never a truer word spoken NFJ was too cought out by this a few years ago, and learned from it, and to his credit Thomas spent a good 10mins or so talking it over with Dave L and seemed to be in agreement,
All that aside a great comp, and I think Zaidys got his eyes on becoming a judge he looked gutted when John took his seat!

Re: IMAC Weekend
It was all planned MARK. I given my seat up, after lunch as the paid for it (LOL) !! NOT. My neck was soar from looking up all the time
I wanted to enjoy the flying and sit amongst my club mates and gloat a bit about being a potential talent for future events
If I was still sitting on that chair Thomas would have got a first place

John
I have notice the last couple of days you've been very quick of the mark, what are you taking? Because I want some
Re: IMAC Weekend
I'm really glad I managed to get back from the Lakes, in time to catch the freestyle round on Sunday, the standard for flying was just amazing! First up little Matty's routine was really good, amazing considering his age. Thomas' flying was jaw dropping too. How that plane stayed in the air without hitting the ground, is beyond me. The last time I was that impressed at model flying, was when I first saw a video of someone flying a 3D heli routine....
