I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

New build trex 500 ESP.
I've just picked up one of these, couldn't resist from Fast Lad.
http://www.align.com.tw/shop/product_info.php?cPath=22_25&products_id=2493
It's possibly going to be flybarless next week when I start the build.
At the moment I'm thinking of batteries and I'm leaning towards Align 40C packs but does anyone have any suggestions?
It's the new version with the modified battery tray so will fit probably up to 3300's in there.
If I go flybarless I can't afford Flightpower or Thunderpower prices so has anyone tried the Align 40C packs or any other simmilar rated?
Thanks.
Danny.

Re: New build trex 500 ESP.
I used to run my Trex500 on 5s - 5Ah packs that were rated at 18C. Okay, they were a little bit chunky, and the canopy didn't fit on, but they gave me 16-20 minutes of hovering around...
I'm odd like that....

Re: New build trex 500 ESP.
15-20 mins,OMG my brain has melted by 8.30 mins.
Mark I know the other 2 brands are your favourites
I think I'll try the Aligns and see how they go.
I was going to go for 6s as I'm starting to get thirsty for power.
The Outrage packs look like good value for the money but I haven't seen many using them on the different forums so not sure about them.
Cheers guys Align a go.
Thanks.

Good call on the 6s packs. I only used 5s packs, because I had them sat there from my Edge540 that I sold....
I'm a big fan of high voltage. Use voltage to increase the power levels, and you can use a smaller, lighter ESC, and also use smaller and lighter cables too. You waste less power in the ESC and motor through heating effects due to huge currents....
Plus, you can use lower "C" rated packs, as you will be pulling less currect out of them for the same power...

Re: New build trex 500 ESP.
I did, briefly. I was using a 6s pack, made up from 2 3s packs. In fact, they were the same packs that I use in my big yella glider. 2150mAh rhino packs from hobby city.
It worked well, I had to adjust the throttle curve about a bit, and the flight time was cut down to about 5 mins IIRC. I went straight back to the 5s packs though, much longer duration for my hovering, and really rather lazy eights!
Wish I had have kept hold of it a bit longer now, the few quid a week that I stash into the big gasser chopper fund, is not growing quick enough!

Re: New build trex 500 ESP.
Most of the videos I've seen a lot of people use 2 3S packs and the power looks amazing.
Are you not tempted for another one while they're on offer?

I am tempted, but my recently found willpower will keep the credit card in the wallet!
