I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

can you guys help me out with some fuel?
Does anyone have spare gallon of 5% nitro fuel that they wouldn't mind selling to me?

Re: can you guys help me out with some fuel?
Sorry I only use 10% Beckra, this is one of the most versatile fuels it can be used on all types of glow engines 2 & 4 stroke, unless your into the high end helicopters this is perfect all round fuel.
£13 a gallon if you want some, I will probably be at the field on Saturday let me know & I'll put some in my car.

Re: can you guys help me out with some fuel?
Do you think that it will affect my engine upgrading from 5% to 10%?

Should not make much diffrerence, maybe a slight tweek on the main needle otherwise it should be fine unless the manufacturer of your engine says otherwise.

Re: can you guys help me out with some fuel?
Popular OS 40 engines normally run OK on 5% in UK
OS40 FP and LA are the same design, LA is most recent
These run fine on 5% 10% is not necessary
OS40 ball race
could be cross flow old model, if so has deflector plate on top of piston
or modern scnuerl ported no deflector plate.
Difference cross flow give power at lower revs but swing bigger props
All these happy on 5% nitro in UK
I keep saying in UK
The climate here is damp and cool. Nitro is not crucial here but does help if the tickover is unreliable. Or use a hotter running glow plug.
Two types of plugs here
hot as in racing.
The plug is designed to run cool and not overheat !
hot as in running hot
to keep the glow bright !
They are graded 1-5. I like Enya No3 or OS No8
The same engine in USA and hot parts of Europe need 10 -15% nitro to run at all reliably. We had somone bring a 40 size trainer to macclesfield but fitted with a K&B 60 glow motor. In the Sarahara desert, where it normally performed, it just about flew level. In Macclesfield, on 5% fuel it disappeared out of sight upwards in a few seconds. The man was astonished.
Then of course which type of oil does the fuel have ?
Castor Ugh say some, Synthetic Oo Yea yea say the modern guys
They all work but keeping them clean like new after use is always important
I suppose this should all be in the Engines topic really but someone will tell me, won't you Andy ?

Paul is an "Engineer" Sam he enjoys giving as much information on a subject as he can, we all enjoy the thought of reading into a subject in great detail
It's not cheap at £13.00 a gallon but one of the best & the quality is guaranteed, there are alternatives at a cheaper price
