I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Vulcan combat anyone?
A PSSA friend of mine Mark Kettle has designed ( amongst other things ) this great 44" span Vulcan. He works exclusively in EPP and after I flew his prototype test bed version a few months back at Lleyn, he has kindly supplied me with the latest version at a v good price.
I took delivery and flew her maiden on Saturday's PSS meeting at the Orme.
Incorporates some clever little ideas, and at 44 oz AUW has a wing loading of around 10oz per sq' making her good for light lift and also has ballast compartment for big lift days.
Mark has already cut 10 kits and sold 4 after this weekends meet.
Anyone interested can either contact me or Mark Kettle direct markskettle@gmail.com

Final price has yet to be decided - around £75 I think.

I like that Tim! Any idea if there would be room for a little motor in the rear of the fuselage? A single pusher type, nothing silly powerful mind, probably something around 400 sized....
And how has that one of yours been finished, just paint direct to the Epp? If you've got some more details, build pics etc, let me know!

Re: Vulcan combat anyone?
Mark and I have already discussed a possible powered version - I reckon a couple or four little 28mm fans in the pods would suffice - possibly utilising a quad esc unit to save weight. We also thought of a couple of small 200watt outrunners as pushers in the outer nacelles.
Finish is spackle then brown paper and PVA - paint is cheap enamel just brushed on ( Wilko )
There's a pretty full build and development log over here http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=97896&p=1
Mark the designer also gets a mention in this month's RCME.

Ever considered selling advertising space on your bald spot Barnes? The sponsors would love a bit of that publicity!

That Vulcan looks cool , shame the Orme meet was not in the "upcoming events" , would have been good to go see how its done !

Re: Vulcan combat anyone?
Alan - the price is only a guesstimate and with the addition of everything needed to complete including glues brown paper templates etc etc he may add on few quid - I assume that wont make a difference? - I shall let Mark know you want one.
Ill keep you informed.

Re: Vulcan combat anyone?
Hi Tim
No problem and I've got brown paper, glues etc etc so really just the EPP components, carbon - if any, are all that's needed
No rush
Thanks

Re: Vulcan combat anyone?
Ive asked Mark to do some pricing for a "short kit" and initially we think this should come out at around £70 - buyer supplies covering, horns, glues etc.
No carbon - spars etc all ply / balsa

Re: Vulcan combat anyone?
We should be there from 10AM - follow the marine drive around the gt orme until you get to the "rest and be thankful" cafe. a few hundred yards further turn LEFT up a ribbed concrete track and you will see the small free car park at the end - we are all there.

Re: Vulcan combat anyone?
Alan et al - Mark has finalized a price of £75 for the kit which will also include all the wood bits so basically you supply the horns etc and covering of your choice.
I hope to get a few delivered soon, so Ill keep you posted.
