I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Re: Sukhoi SU-26
A bigger system could be
Schulze 8-936, can give 9 Amp into 10 cell Lipo. It has no integral balancer.
When hooked up to LipoProBal14, up to 14 cells can be balanced when working with 8-936 in handshake mode
Charge completed in <1 hour

Re: Sukhoi SU-26
Looks good Barnes!
The thing i found with the big electrics (last year in fact) is that they are great! Until you come to charge them at the field. The joy of lugging a maaahoosive leisure battery around, soon wears off, and the idea of a generator seems a bit over the top really.
That's part of the reason I got rid of the Edge (well, apart from it being a bit lardy). Great to fly, but a pain in the botty to charge. Oh, and it wasn't so much the chargers fault, as the power supply for the chargers fault.
I still have (wet?!) dreams about a hulking great electric tug style aircraft. 2.5m of electron fuelled beefyness....... Mmmmmmmm.
Ahem. Sorry. let me know when the maiden is, I PROMISE to remember the movingFilm camera.....

Re: Sukhoi SU-26
As you may have seen in Feild tales my Suk finaly took to the air last night,
I had 2 flights on a 19x8 prop using 8s and a 9s pack, in trouth the 8s wanted a much bigger prop on it and everything was stone cold and flight performance was sedate, 9s was better but again i think it would benafit from a bigger prop 20x10 i would recon.
However ive the option of 11s so i will try that this weekend at weston with a cobination of props and wil slap the watt meter on to see exactly what were getting.
Flying wise i was very impresed, the plane was nose heavy and you could tell but it still flew very straight and true, both flights were in lowrate mode and i seemed to have guessed the movement about right, rolls were very axal and elevater control was crips and acurate, rudder was just about right to,
The only issuse (aprat from the cog) was my f3a style undercart, this was an after thought by me as i thought it would look better than the standard and in torooth it dose but coupled with the nose heavy balance the bugger nosed over twice on landing (but to be fair the secound was a tad short)
Must also thank Leigh for his help with the build and set up and for plugging in the scary conectors
Both Dave S and Andy were clicking away so we should see some shots soon

Re: Sukhoi SU-26
It's taken me all afternoon to get that one Barnes! The last sukhoi you flew there was the mid-air one right?!
On my Helicopter (A TRex 500 without it's dress on), the huge green chunk is the lipo pack, yes. The reason it is flying without its lid on, is that the big green packs don't fit under the canopy! They are rather a lot too big. On the plus side, I get around 15-20 minutes of hovering practice out of a pack, and they stay nice and cool.
When I eventually get to grips with lazy circuits, I'll invest in some new packs that fit under the canofbees......
Cheers!
Andy
