I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ Smile .

Hi Guys, newby here  Very Happy

I have often driven past the field when the club have been flying and wanted to pop in. I went passed a couple of weeks back and saw a uav up in the air, it looked like somebody had a ground station with it. Anyway I have just purchased my first RC flying machine at the age of 60, maybe a late mid life crises  Wink  Has anybody else got a phantom 2 vision in the club or forum? I could really do with some advise about firmware updates. I will come down to the field and maybe join the flying club. I am a bit of a amiteur photographer, can I bring my camera? I am local and live in Bodelwyddan. So can see the field from my house.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum! First up, when it comes to visiting us when you are passing the field, if there is someone there, feel free to pop in and introduce yourself. The vast majority of the club are friendly souls! The winter season is a little slow usually due to the weather, but in the summer, if the weather is good, there is usually someone there. In the winter we have a monthly club night at the Castle Inn (Rhuddlan) which is tonight if you want to pop in. We also have an indoor flying session on a saturday afternoon at the sports centre in Rhyl.

The UAV/Ground station you saw will more than likely be Zaid. He's started up a business in Aerial photography/videography and surveying, so he would be probably testing some kit out.

As for Multirotors, there are a few members with various machines, I've got a TBS discovery, DJI F550 and a little F330, along with a work in progress heavy lift machine. There are probably 6-7 members with similar type machines, and most of those are kitted up for night flying too.

Cheers

I forgot to mention, the DJI F330 and F450 are very similar to the Phantom multirotors. They are a similar size, layout, but the Phantom has a pretty bodyshell!

Hi Steve,

Don't know of anyone with a Phantom but nearly all of the multirotor guys at our place are on the DJI naza flight controllers so all very similar.

We have no problem you coming down for a look and a try and please fee free to bring your camera.

As for flying, I would subject at minimum you get your self insured, see the BMFA web site its not a lot of money but dose cover you 3rd party. You should also look at the BMFA guidelines on multirotors and aerial photography and familiarise yourself with the do`s and don't's

If your interested in the club your are aloud 3 flying visits before we would ask you to join, again its not a whole lot of money but please come down and have a chat.
