I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Sunday 8th
Called at the field this afternoon with the electric Sukoi. Parked at the gate and paddled to the strip. I couldn't get to the box to disconnect the fence so I abandonned it and paddled back!! If anyone wants to borrow a pair of flippers and a snorkel give me a ring.

While I was down at the field this afternoon, I took a photograph of this creature in a puddle at the end of the strip.

Re: Sunday 8th
I can confirm Mike's story. I was there this afternoon (either before or after Mike) but fortunately had a pair of wellies and a pointed stick... Managed three flights before it started to drizzle
I was also there y'day and again a three flight day. Piccies of the field yesterday.... It had gone down slightly today by a millimeter or two

Re: Sunday 8th
I don't think the length of grass is a concern of anyone at the moment
Let me know when you go to cut it, I'll pop down & take a pic of you stuck in the mud.
There's no driving on the field at the moment so I would imagine that would apply to all, we can't help the weather.

It's amazing how quick the field usually dries out but it'll have to stop raining first!!

Re: Sunday 8th
Real shame to see it like that.
My weekend wasnt a total waste, I went up to Delyn open day yesterday and had an enjoyable day flying including a go on Andy Ellison's reasonably quick Typhoon E hot liner.
Today was the Hobby Courner Fly-in at Wrexham MFC but I chose to give that a miss but apparently there was good flying to be had there to.

Brian,
To be honest the strip is as soft as cowpats! I had trouble taking off and landing due to the drag on the wheels. I think there's no choice to let it firm up a lot before even considering mowing it

Re: Sunday 8th
I've no intention of trying Allan I'm just concerned that by the time it dries out that the grass will be so long that the ride on won't cope, I have a plan "B" with my old walk behind Hayter rotary.

More rain !
looks like more rain on the way this week ! Never seen so much water on the field at this time of year. I'll continue popping down to my local 'field' until the club one dries out. At least my local one does flood but quickly drains and dries out ... aren't beaches wonderful !

Re: Sunday 8th
Went past tonight, the main ditch water has gone down a fair bit, the ditch by the road is still flooded & overflowing onto the field.
Re: Sunday 8th
Should we consider changing the club name to something like "Rhyl and District Bog Snorkelling club"?
Me thinks it will be a fair while for this to get back to a semi decent state, especially looking at the weather forecast for the coming weeks. Fingers crossed it wont affect the aerotow too much

Stopped at the field this afternoon. The majority of the water around the strip is draining pretty good but I believe there's more rain on the way. A retractable roof would be a good idea

Re: Sunday 8th
There's bother everywhere with this weather, Stu came home early from the Yorkshire show in Harrogate in the early hours of this morning as the last two days were cancelled. They tried towing vehicles on and off the car parks yesterday but late last night decided to pull the plug. Here's a shot from one of the car parks

I think they may have had less mud on the Somme in WW1!

Re: Sunday 8th
I think it was a good call from the committee to stop driving on the flying field for the time being.
