I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Last Rhyl Indoor 25.2.2012
All charged up and ready for a good last session.
Dose anyone have a small (keychain) camera I can borrow for today's meet?

Re: Last Rhyl Indoor 25.2.2012
Last day of term and not the biggest of attendances but fun was had by all, Rich was flying his little and large stealth machines, I actually manned up and had a go with the larger one and what a great machine think I'll have to get an order in for next winter. Gary scored the best slam dunk of the season and had to get a theatre technician in for the retrieval. Steve Price was flying his Quadcopter. Dave Moran did well with BB's old competition machine and Danny came back to the fold with his new 250 which he's done an excellent build thread hereabouts.

I knew one of the southern softies would bite, I also noticed you only sing when your winning.
Gald the Akcent went well where did you do the dirty deed.
More to the question how long did you keep it up.

As they say Rich, you're never alone with a song in your heart, well if they don't they should ... mmm dunno where I was going with that! lol
I flew the Akcent on the field over the back of where I live. (didn't see the point of comming over to the field as I knew you guys were doing the indoor at rhyl). It wasn't perfect because the local junior footbal team were there too so there wasn't a lot of space not occupied by a rug rat!
Very first flight was a javelin launch ... straight and level (really!) I measured it out at 182ft!
I did a couple of gentle launches, and the model was a bit porposey to begin with but by adding a 5p nose weight cured that, I would say it flies fantastic! I didn't time them becasue the kids started to flock in so I left the field) but hazarding a guess I would say the flights were in the 1 minute area. I'll need to tame the ailerons a touch but I'm well pleased!
With luck the wind will be light again tomorrow and I'll have a bit longer and get it trimmed out properly.
All I can say is WOW! I love this DLG thing and it's your fault Rich!

Nice one, I just knew you would like it.
Try expo on the ailerons first, I'm sure you know how to do this, if it's JR then the expo should be positive values, if it's Futaba then it's negative values
I use approx. 70% - 80% neg on the expo. although you should set this to suit your flying style.

Re: Last Rhyl Indoor 25.2.2012
Thanks for the advice Rich, I usually do have expo (being taught by Tim who is an advocate of expo) but the Top yankie boys in DLG are saying it's best to have no expo but stiff sticks but on re-checking the control movement I have been over generous with the throws anyway.
Need to sort it out I'm doing my first Comp at Twywell on the 14th March

Re: Last Rhyl Indoor 25.2.2012
I've been scarred for life by scenes in that video Barnes.....
Marty, I usually have 3 flight modes for my DLG's. One is the launch phase (on a pushbutton on my tx) which has a slight amount of rudder/elevator trim offset in along with a slight amount of reflex on the ailerons to get a nice straight launch (or to mask me ballsing it up frequently....) The second is for gliding around, thermalling and stuff, so fairly low rates on everything and a bit of expo too. Pretty much all DLGS glide better if you leave the sticks alone. The other is for hooning around so has max aileron/ele/rudder rates and a fair bit of negative expo in there to reduce the twitchy-ness around neutral.
The US bods advocating stiff sticks (well they would wouldn't they?!) will be doing that to try and make sure that any control input is really needed. Having lightly sprung sticks can lead to lots of minor control inputs on a subconcious level I reckon.....
I should take a break out from doing up the house, and get mine finished in time for the summer!!
