I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ Smile .

    Speedo Empty Speedo

Post by Brian Colclough 2011-10-09, 19:39

Having had the Speedo for a couple of years now I thought it was time I got the hardware together and got on with the assembly, so I've finally made a start not exactly a big job, if I can maintain my momentum I should have it finished in a couple of days. It'll be nice to have something in my armoury for light lift conditions. My Wildthing also needs a major re-fit, has a broken nose and both servos sound like and have the centreing ablity of a rusty farm gate

Whats the AU weight looking like Bri? Do you think you could "catch" land it - or is it likely to take your head off?

The website quotes 360-450 gms which I would say would be a ballpark figure Ben. Catch landing may be ok if you avoid contact with the wings ie you'd have to catch it by the nose Wink

Hmmmm - I can see the need for ninja type reflexes!Speedo Character0049

The place I want to fly it has a small tarmac sloped car park - so belly landing is out! Maybe have to go back to the drawing board! - Im looking for something similar to that with some tame slow flying characteristics for catching! pale

I have a powered wing which I really love flying so a cheap and cheerful unpowered version makes sense for where I want to use it - especially as it will probably dissapear out into the North Sea anyway!

Stubbsy, why not get a speedo and use a sacrificial piece of CW tape on as a skid?
Or you could set uo the ailerons as flaperons and your sorted.

Foamies are OK if they're for rough and tumble ie combat but I always find them disappointing in the flight characteristics department. As with all rules there are exceptions ie Le Fish and some of the speed oriented wings, for me though I'd prefer a glass ship but they cost.

Well I kept my momentum going, have got the Speedo ready for a maiden. Having hands like shovels I always find gliders difficult to fit out but this being smaller was a right struggle. Wink
