I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

John Oxley Dean
It it with great regret that I have to report the following:
I today have recived a message from Sam Dean, John's Son which reads as follows:
"My Dad was rushed to hospital early yesterday afternoon after he suffered a heart attack in Prestatyn. He passed away shortly after. The reason for posting is because I know he enjoyed it at the field and the indoor meets and made friends at the club. If you could let everyone know that would be appreciated. We are all still in shock of the news, thanks, Sam."
Im sure you will all join me in sending your thoughts and wishes to Sam and his familey, this must be a very difficult time for them, John was a great man, and much loved by many members including myself, who always enjoyed a good "crack" and just being around the club
He will be sorley missed
RIP John Oxley Dean

John Dean
I have just heard about the loss of John Dean from contacts in the full size gliding community where he was well known. John took to aero modelling after retiring from full size gliding & was always good to chat to . I have flown full size with him as an instructor & his laid back but strict style always made him popular with students.

Such sad news! He was a wealth of knowledge and I wit which was so dry it was sharp, we always had a giggle. I didn't know him that well but I shall miss him.
If the club members are having a whip round please include me and I will square up with whoever when I get home. Thanks.

That's a real shame, John was a thoroughly nice chap who had that wicked sense of humour that you never knew whether he was being serious or not. It was always a pleasure to have a chat with him down at the field, and he will be missed. My condolences to his family.
I'll see what we can do with regard to a donation of some sort.

Re: John Oxley Dean
Just returned from the funeral - saddened, and somewhat disappointed that I was the only model flying club ( RDMFC or LLysfaen indoor ) member there.
Being as JOD was a nice and popular guy, I really expected a few of us to make the effort

Re: John Oxley Dean
Belive me it gets worse,
After my 10hr stint on my own in the office (aprox 5.30pm) I have to leave for a 5-6 hour drive to Bridgwater ready for a 12hr stint on my own in a field taking water samples every hour tomorrow and the same again Sunday then drive back home.
