I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Re: Binary V2
Ahhh, that means it wasn't down to shite building at all, instead it was down to piloting skill (or lack thereof). I can translate

Re: Binary V2
Pilot had nothing to do with it mate.
It was a building structural malfunction

Re: Binary V2
I must say though it flew pretty well, was gusting abit but got a few loops and rolls in, very similar to the mini fireworks and just like a small blaster really.
Need to play on a carmer day and fiddle with the balance (after the huge repair) and sort a launch trim and fiddle with the rest of the movment but all in all pretty good.
Another key point is somone else will have to launch it at all times due to the launch peg being on the wrong wing

Re: Binary V2
You can't blame the peg Andy launches all his with the peg on the left wing & he's cack handed too
Re: Binary V2
How the hell do you launch with the left wing when you need your right hand on primary controls?

Re: Binary V2
It's all in the trim setup I think Andy told me once, see he can talk a good flight you know
Re: Binary V2
On the Launch, you shouldn't need to touch the controls until it is time to put it out of speed or launch mode, and level off at the top. Any adjustments that need to be done to take care of a badly trimmed model, or a hooked launch, should be beaten out of the pilot with a stick. Or if it is down to a twisted build, programmed in as trim adjustments in the launch flight phase.....

Re: Binary V2
Rich's launching reminds me of my Grandad doing Ballroom dancing. Straight back, and all movement from the hips down. The ladies love it!
Look at the video you need a shedload more down elevator compensation with flap deployment, and perhaps the CG needs shuffling back a little. Oh, and stop hanging on the elevator so much, you are killing all the forward speed!
Anyway, how did you kill it, tell me, I'm going to bed in a mo....

Re: Binary V2
Its bugger all mate just the balsa block holding the stab on cracked on a launch no bother really just a dab of cyno to sort.

Re: Binary V2
I've already designed that failure mode out Andy
I told you it was nose heavy & it wanted more down elevator
Recommended Control throws
(measured at trailing edge up + down - )
Elevator + 5.5/5.5mm
Aileron +8/7mm
Preset Mode (measured at trailing edge)
Launch Mode
Aileron +0.8mm Elevator 0mm
Cruise Mode
Aileron 0mm Elevator +0.5mm
Thermal Mode
Aileron 1.5mm
Elevator +1.2mm
Brake Mode
Aileron 15mm
Elevator 2.0mm
C.G. 55-57mm measured from leading edge, depending on flying preferences

Re: Binary V2
I knew that stab mount wouldn't last.... rubbish quality balsa in the kit. When you re-cyano it, peg it through in a couple of places from the top of the stab too (use a cocktail stick, or 2mm carbon rod or something). That should beef it up.
The thin little aerofoils used on DLGs really like a bit of airspeed, especially when the wingloading is at the upper end of the design envelope (like it is on the smaller DLGs). You can get away with it on the bigger DLGs like the Blaster, because the wing loading is a fair bit lower, but on the smaller ones, it really kills the glide. Let it zip about nice and quickly, and the glide times will improve noticeably...
What is it like with the flaps reflexed a couple of mm? Speedy?
