I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Thursday 19th May
Afternoon all.
Is anyone off down to the field this afternoon/evening? The weather is looking fantastic from my office window in St Aspah at the moment, blue skies and a gentle breeze (5mph or so)...

Re: Thursday 19th May
Heh heh, the disappointing thing was that it hardly made any noise when it hit the ground. Also, there was a distinct lack of foam snow everywhere
I had a good hour last night. I've finally killed my little rocket delta, stripped servo in flight (I may have modified the motors slightly to give more thrust. Lesson learnt, use metal gear servos, even on the little ones!).
Cheers to Roy for letting me try a battery in my Viking fuselage. It turns out, it is cavernous, which is nice.

Re: Thursday 19th May
Well ..... I admit I'm struggling to UN-learn a conditioned response (if never even knew I had).
For 40 odd years the throttle towards me has been the "let me go faster" direction and twice now Tim has said "FULL THROTTLE" with urgency in his voice, once with the Mustang and last night with the Discovery and both times instinct kicked in and although convinced I had opened the throttle I had in fact moved the stick in the model "flat pack" direction!
I am so P1ssed off and angery with myself, not because I pranged another plane (and the enevitable micky taking) but the fact that I am struggling with something as basic as which way to move my thumb!
I'm so dispondent at the moment I might just give up the power side of modeling.

Re: Thursday 19th May
Why not just change to mode 4 and have the throttle revirsed?

Re: Thursday 19th May
Nah, you'll be fine mate. I was pleased with your progress, and your first flight and ROG, followed by two excellent landings shows me that you have reached a stage where you can demonstrate proper control.
I think you just need to put it down to a simple and classic case of "dumb thumbs". I think the ST Discovery proved to be an excellent choice for the purpose, and should glue back very easily and be good as new in no time.
Listen Marty, we all do the odd dumb thing occasionally, and sometimes we are lucky and get away with it, .....and sometimes we dont.
Put it down to a silly moment, and get back on that horse.

Re: Thursday 19th May
Thanks for that Tim.
I don't happen on the Simulator?
I have spent hours thinking it through and I think part of the problem is, I "enjoy" just watching the models fly. Without getting romantic and poetic about this but I simply enjoy watching things fly and I think I become a little tranfixed which may be slowing my reactions because I'm not concentrating at the required higher % level.
I got a real buzz out of my take offs and landings last night then I went and blew it!
I dunno about Dumb Thumbs, My thumbs are ok ..... it's the rest of me which is suspect! lol

Re: Thursday 19th May
Stop thinking about it, and just get it glued back so you can continue the practice.
