I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ Smile .

MAJA UAV Empty MAJA UAV

Post by Tim 2010-12-08, 00:41

Just in case anyone in the club may be interested, I am posting this item here first.
Its a model that I agreed to review for RCME, and I am part way through the "build" now, and expect to do the flying shots for the magazine early new year - it will be for sale immediately after...assuming all goes well Shocked.
Its simply not my thing - and I have no use for it. These unusual birds are designed to carry camera equipment with a payload capacity of up to 1.5Kg.
Electric pusher powered, high quality EPP, its large opening fuselage and 6' wingspan make for quite a big model, which easily and quickly dismantles for transport.

They are very expensive new ( almost 600 Euros with powertrain + servos + shipping) Shocked
I shall be looking for circa £200 ONO with all new gear - just add receiver and battery.

More info.... http://www.borjet.de/xtc/product_info.php?info=p31_MAJA-UAV---RPV.html

Nowt special TBH Andy, a Pichler 25 boost brushless, Pichler 30A ESC, 11 x 6 Folding prop, 4 Hextronic Mini metal gear servos. Wouldnt be my first choice, but have to fit what was recommended by the manufacturer for review purposes. I am expecting it to be underpowered ( circa 350 watts )
and would think 500 would be better. Its quite a heavy bird and will likely end up around 3.5 - 4lbs without payload.
The FPV community seem to quite like it actually, but to me, its way overpriced as supplied. There's no hard sell here, and I am flexible on price, removing gear etc Smile .

Ok - 4 successful flights on Tuesday and today....it even flys with the transmitter thrown at the ground Shocked
Adjusted COG and a few other tweaks and today IT was far better. Surprisingly agile for such a large model, and certainly looks different!
Good points: Very good quality materials. Large and accessible payload bays. Versatile motor mounting and battery positions - both easily and quickly changeable. Unique and ingeniously simple interlocking system for wing panels, and fuselage openings. Motor pod and mounting will allow easy motor change if required. Plenty powerful enough ( 500 watts ) with light payload. Approx 15 20 minute flight times on 3200 4s battery....could easily take double the capacity if needed. Strong and durable construction - will take a knock or two no problem.
Not so good:Tends to pitch down when launching on WOT - however gets away fine at half power.

Flown only for the review, and costing 600 Euros http://www.borjet.de/xtc/index.php?cat=c9_UAV---RPV---FPV.html&XTCsid=58533f7c1fddae6f74b84b3b393427dc when bought built and fitted with 4 servos motor and ESC. This one is available complete with quality HiTec servos, Pilcher motor + folding 11 x 6 prop, Plush 60A "guard" series speedo. I'll even include a 4s 3200 battery AND a brand new Flycam ECO camera ready fitted in removable nose plug.
£250. Will be going in the usual classifieds in the next few days.
Serious enquiries will receive a copy of the actual mag review if requested.

For FPV this ONES getting quite good reviews and 132 Euros inc delivery from Poland. 'Course, unlike Tims, you have got to build it and put the gear in etc. Yes, like to see some more photo's.

Photos are copyright John Bowman currently Allan - so you would need to speak with him - especially as they have not yet even been submitted to the magazine. If you are a serious contender to purchase we can arrange something picture wise - and I will send you a summary of my review.
