I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Re: Help please!
I'll bring some if I come along. Mainly depends on the weather and what I've got flyable

Re: Help please!
Ok, if not do you think you could pass them on to someone who is flying?
as it is a fair way away from bangor and going there not to fly would be a bit of a waste of time and money

Re: Help please!
I'll be there as long as it's not raining, I have a box of screws I could take, just remind me what it is for, engine to mount or mount to airframe, so I can think about it.
Re: Help please!
Mount to airframe, captive nuts in the bulkhead, not to sure on the threads, but it is a 3mm diameter

Ok I'll put the box in, not 100% sure there 3mm though seems a bit small but if your confident I put it in
Re: Help please!
Well im just going on what Paul has told me from the specs from his kit, and I am pretty trusting in him

Re: Help please!
I will try and make up 2 or 3 and leave them in the field box in the early afternoon before going to Glan Clwyd for a checkup.
If you only have long screws
You can saw off the excess. But then the threads at the end will be chewed up and may not screw into the nuts fixed in the bulkhead easily. So you put a nut on the screw before you saw the waste bit off. The nut will partially restore the damaged thread as it comes off. (A bit of dressing with a file will make the thread good)
Or,
without the saw, you put several nuts or washers on the screw until the remaining thread is 15 mm long. And screw that in.
Job done.
Or
With one nut per screw, you fit the nut on the screw, then put the screw through the engine mount into the bulkhead nut far enough to engage all the bulkhead nut thread (about 1/4 inch). Then tighten the outer nut onto the engine mount until secure.
Leave the excess sticking out... if it then works why change it again?
Based on
Give the laziest man a Job and he'll find an easy way to do it.

More woffle
Richie did comment that the 3 3mm engine mount to bulkhead screws seemed a bit lightweight and I agree. Normally with 40 or above engines I would have used a more substantial fix. The nutters at the nats fun fly, for example, have tuned 46's fitted in cougars.
Anyway in the Weston kit..............
The engine mount flange (where the screws came out) is just 8 mm thick.
That leaves about 7 mm to engage with the captive nuts in the bulkhead which sounds about right.
Also
I can't see any mention in the instructions about sealing the covering or fuel proofing the inside of the fuz especially near the tank.
This would be an automatic part of building a model from scratch.
Considering the cost of these kits, I think they should have been finished properly and well enough to survive being exposed to glow fuel regularly, not as an accident but as a real requirement. They could have been a lot more helpful in the instructions and given some helpful guidance to newcomers.
It can be so disapponting to have a new model fall apart after just a few outings just because the fuel got to it.
Yes I saw Andy's comment about the so called advantages of electrickery power but for me that doesn't wash. I just like playing with engines far more.
