I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ Smile .

Have just put an AR500 into a couger, basic setting up O.K. but when I activate the ele to flap mix instead of both ailerons going up and down in simitry they are acting in opposite directions when ele is operated. Have tried reversing servo`s no joy. Have also tried moving the left ail, over onto the gear channel and putting in a mix but then the aileron trim doesn`t affect the left aileron, suspect I will have to use a six channel RX but hope I`m wrong. DIDN`T HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH FUTABA!! Help please.

Bob Iv'e a JR tx.Instructions for mixing EL/FL..

Function mode,up/down to select El/Fl mix Access up/down keys simultanously.Change mixing values +to- or -to +.
Also If I remember the left Airl lead goes in Airl socket on Rx, though could be the other wat round.
below is from Instruction Man
4.6 Elevator to Flap Mixing (Function Mode)
The upper-most position of the flap mixing switch activates the
Elevator to Flap Mixing Circuitry. When this system is active and
a value of flaps is input, the flaps will be deflected each time the
elevator stick is used. The actual flap movement is independently
adjustable for both up and down elevator. The most frequently
used application is up elevator/down flaps and down
elevator/up flaps. When used in this manner, the aircraft pitches
much more quickly than normal. When you want to reverse the
mixing directions, press the - key and change the mixing value
from + to - (or - to +).
In the Function Mode, use the UP or DN key to select the
Elevator to Flap Mixing function and access by pressing the UP
and DN keys simultaneously.
Note: The flap mixing switch must be in the upper postion to
adjust values

Thanks John but my problem is not activating the mix, it`s the fact that when it`s activated instead of both ailerons going up and down together when the ele is operated, one aileron goes up and the other goes down when ele is operated. have tried appying + and - values but to no avail.

I believe the AR500 is configured such that the aileron O/P's are via the equivalent of a 'Y' lead inside the Rx. Thus, if I am right you will require a 6ch Rx for elev/ail/flap mixing. So saying, I believe that I can do it with my 'taba 9 Super by using channels 1&5 instead of the normal 1&6 for the aileron O/P's.

Bob, I get that all the time whenever I bind my spectrum dx7 to one of the things called a plank ! Get a heli it easier !

If I remember correctly, when you set the model up on the Tx for the first time(you need to select the mixing) can't remember them all but one was a flaparron (not sure of the spelling) that gives you both flaps/alie in the same direction also the three position switch can give flaps down or flat or up.
I hope this help with the problem.

cheers

I think Allan has hit the nail on the head, on the AR500 the 2nd ail. outlet only acts as the equivalent of a Y lead, Good old Futaba got round this by using channel 5 as an ail/flap output when using a 5ch RX.

Still open to ideas.....the gear ch is still unused!
I used a mix Ail to Gear but then when trimming out the plane the trim switch only acts on the right ail not both. got to be a way round it somehow, I must be missing something Smile ..... yah yah....A few grey cells....well O.K. quite a few grey cells.

Use the gear channel as your secound Ali channel

Dual Ailerons
Go to Mix#5 (Allows use of trim)
Setup: Master > Aileron
Slave > Gear
Rate +100%---+100%(May have to flick Gear SW
Go to Mix#1
Setup: Master > Gear
Slave > Gear
Rate –100% -100%(May have to flick Gear SW
This inhibits the Gear Switch

Go to Mix#2
Setup: Master > Flap(Aux#1)
Slave > Gear
Rate +100% +100%
This will allow use of Flap Switch
(Flaperons)

Hi Mark, and fellow contributors. Like a dog with a bone have got it sussed slightly different to the way you have done it Mark. this way the trim works on both left and right ail`s.

Enter system mode
wing type.. normal ...Mate Ail to Gear
Devise Sel...Disable switches
Prog Mix3... Elev to FPRN...set values and switch req`d

Job done! FEEWHH
Just got to get used to the different methods.
Thanks
