I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

Scorpion S2-3020-1110KV Brushless
Not being an expert on electric I have a new model that recommends a Scorpion S2-3020-1110KV brushless motor.
Spec: Motor Kv ........................................... 1110 RPM / Volt
No-Load Current (Io) ................................. 2.08 Amps
Motor Resistance (Rm) ............................. 0.016 Ohms
Max Continuous Current ............................... 60 Amps
Max Continuous Power ................................ 840 Watts
Weight ........................................ 166 Grams (5.81 oz)
Can anyone comment on this motor (£47) or a suggested better one. I'm looking at 30mm size.
Do I need a 60amp ESC or bigger?
It is also suggested a 4 cell 14.4v 3000 to 3200 mah lipo and a 10amp regulator set at 6V.
Many thanks.

Re: Scorpion S2-3020-1110KV Brushless
I have a scorpion motor powering my big PC9. Its a lower Kv than yours, and I am pushing 2kW through it at around 90A.
They are nice motors, and slot firmly in-between the real cheap chinese tat, and the overpriced badges of the Hackers and so on.
4 cell sounds about right, depending of course on your desired pitch speed and model flying style etc. Once you get up to the 800+ Watts arena then 3s batteries have to deliver very large currents to keep up, so best to have higher volts ( 4s ) and lower current for the same power.
10A regulator sounds a bit OTT - how many servos in the model?
I find these are very good - excellent VFM, and more than heavy duty enough.
Also good for up to 10s lipo input

Good stuff Scorpion motors.I use a 2221/10 in a 450 on 4S and it's been flawless.Powerful and it runs very cool on 4s.

Thank you guy's I know your the nerds when it comes to this sort of thing
Tim only 4 standard servos Also thanks for the link, it didn't work
While I have your attention, where do I go for LiPo's. Yes I know Overlander & Co but what are Thunder Power like. They say they are the best and obviously good price for 4S 3000 and I also need 7.4v 500 mah LiPo RX battery.

Hobbycity still cheaper even with postage, turnigy nano tech are supposed to be the latest.
The pure electric lads will advise otherwise

TBH for four standard servos, I have used these in the past with no problem at all - and under a fiver !

Thunder power are overpriced - I was sent one for a review ( still have it actually ) and it performed no better than the Tipple equivalent at les than third of the cost.
Giant Cod do Tipple ( and they are fast charge @5c so could be cooked in 12 minutes ( if you have a decent charger and PSU )
I also like nanotech turnigy 50C - excellent VFM, and also Rhino or Zippy flightmax are good too.

G/C do the 2s pack as well, but why bother...with 4 x standard servos , either of those UBECs will run straight off the main 4s flightpack.
Alternatively...use a 2s LiFe pack with no regulator.

Thanks all and great info TIM . Yes I wondered on the logic of a RX battery for standard servo's, must be belt and braces logic.

Re: Scorpion S2-3020-1110KV Brushless
Separate radio battery is necessary in the following scenarios
1) Multiple servos, or digis /minis which tend to be more power hungry
2) Where the inbuilt BEC cannot function with higher voltage batteries...many smaller ESCs are only able to take up to 3s lipo.
3) Very large models deploying heavy servos and associated high power systems - perhaps best here to use 2s LiFe or large NiMhs if you arent geared up for LiFes. Of course, many large models also use redundancy systems such as the powerbox etc.
Many of course, simply prefer the redundancy ( debatable ) of a separate battery...me? -well after years of using ESC becs, and stand alone UBECS I would just forget to charge the thing, or the wiring or switch harness would fail
Most of the satnd alone BEC units these days deploy efficient and high power switch mode regulators, rather than the older less capable linear regs. Switch mode units could be electrically noisy, and cause radio glitches on the old 35Meg stuff, but with the advent of 2.4G, its generally not an issue.
