2018-07-07, 21:07 by Gary M Jones

I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ Smile .

Hi All, For those who don't know it's the StAsaph Fayre on the 20th August. We've been regular attenders for the last few years. The site gives us great exposure to the public so lots of models, lots of flying... We have had all types of models - sport, fun, scale, quads, etc etc. We have included toffee drops, simulators and public 'have a go' using buddy leads. So, come along and have a great time!

For those that do know. Well, folks, its that event again! Bring out all your good stuff and have a ball! Tables, gazebos, chairs are always needed. Models - the more the merrier! As I understand it, its to all intent and purposes the same layout as last year from our perspective

If anyone wants a copy of the site layout pm me an email addy and I'll send it

I'll be pursuing grass cutting and let you know

Site access to follow but basically the earlier the better on that day. If the weather is suitable we can drop stuff of the day before, they have overnight security

Hi folks,

A quick reminder it's the St Asaph show a week tomorrow, so if everyone would like to think on to get batteries charged, planes fettled, etc etc. We generally need tables & chairs, gazebos, planes and people! May it be a good 'un!

Are we doing breakfast at the Whistlestop at about 8.15am beforehand?

Actually, rephrase that, I'll be having breakfast at the whistlestop beforehand, about 8.15am I reckon!

See you there!

Oh and if youbare coming, bring gazebos, tables etc. Static models for display are welcome too, you don't have to fly!

As of this moment the St Asaph crew will arrange for the grass to be cut however when , if and how short are not known. Therefore, yes please. I'll be taking a mower but its the flymo petrol type so not ideal

The site is open for stall holders (us) on Saturday from 9.00 am.

On Sunday the site is open for us from 7.30 am. The organisers are asking that everything is in place by 9.30 for the public entry from 10.00 please. I'm sure some vehicle access will be possible after this time, it has been in previous years, but not guaranteed

Andy, that would be great! Thanks.

I'll be checking for any further updates from the organisers this evening

We are not mentioned anywhere in their flyers and newspapers - are we still attending ? I've prepped the toffee bomber and bought loads of sweeties in readiness. I'll also bring the club flyers and "have a go" leaflets and dispenser again. I was thinking of doing a couple or three drops each hour on the hour from say 1pm onwards ?

Yes, I noticed that! We are mentioned under Vehicles / Machines but that's all. Then again there's no listing of anyone else either except for the main ring events. Pleased you've got the toffee bomber. I'm sure they'll announce it for us. Are the sweeties for me?

Best not to mention the toffee dropping until Ive assessed the flying conditions and I'm happy with the aircraft since it's had a few repairs done and I've not managed to fly it since. I'll be at the whistle stop so should be there early enough to get a few test flights in before folks arrive

We have a strip! The grass was a bit long and wet to get a good finish but I'll go over it again tomorrow morning.

St Asaph food tent will be serving breakfast from ~ 7.30 - 8.00 onwards

Anyone there before me should see two white paint marks on the grass by the orange fence. This is our 'official' public viewing zone. There's also a spectator strip extending up from this. Gazebos etc for static models therefore should be in this viewing zone or up. Don't put anything down from there because that's going to be the side of the archer public bit (fear not, they're just a form of free flight!).

Also, anyone there before me please watch out for the assault course to make sure it doesn't impinge on the spectator strip. There's a dotted paint line to indicate their limit

For vehicle entry for us - enter the site and skirt the car parking by going to the right. Follow down what is to be the car park exit route, then cut across our flying area to park along the orange fence line. Tell the car park marshals who you are to avoid paying if after 09.30

Weather forecast is good
