I was there, with Ron Donohue (Waltron) and Eliot Horwich.
Had a Norton Dominator 99 600 cc bike in those days (1961/2).
Harry Brooks flew an Orion model with Spengbrook radio. The British team of Harry Brooks, Chris Olsen and Frank Van den Bergh won the team prize.

Yeah, Good find

No! but I played it back umpteen times in the hope.
Back home I was commissioned to build an Orion kit for Walt Strafford, another member of "LARCAS" (Lancashire Area Radio Control Aircraft Society).
A Manchester born, English version of the then famous club LARKS in the States.

Walt was one of the sponsors of Waltron, Ron Donohugh being the other.
Power Merco 61. Silencer? of course not !!!
Covering white nylon from Eccles market and HMG clear dope.
Walt's radio was an imported "Orbit" and the Tx was anodised blue.
The model's maiden flight was at Tilstock, a disused airfield near Whitchurch.
The local unfenced A road went across the middle. Hairy indeed.
