I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ Smile .

I think tethered car racing pre-dates control line flying Dave Wink

And this is Paul Eisner setting a World speed record for the 2.5cc IC powered FAI class back in 2001. I think the record has been upped a few times since. None of it for me I'm afraid, used to like the team race with John Bowman, but it would be a dull old world were we all the same Cool and NO the props not broken

Would that have been on a monoline? And yes I have read about counterbalanced single blade props but never seen one in the flesh.

The 2.5cc record looked great and I presume the fitting on the post is to prevent whipping.

The car racing goes back well beyond control line aircraft but I did not realise it was still going strong.

Yes it is monoline Dave, you can see him doing the pull test on it in the first few frames. The fiitting on the pylon does prevent him from whipping but its main purpose is to keep him and the model centred in the circle. If you watch the first I think two laps he whips like crazy to help it get on the pipe and then it's an almighty rush to get it locked in the pylon. I once saw a pilot at good old Woodford fail to get in the pylon with a 10cc speed job and it dragged him all over the runway, people scattering in all directions and he had to ditch it No Interesting to note the pilots are all built like racing whippets Wink
