I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

My first ( well almost ) of 2011
Following Barnesyboys lead, but with a few more clues I thought Id show my first significant model of 2011. The rest of the clues are Seagull, Pilatus PC9 in RAAF aerobatic team scheme, AUW 12lbs, 1.8mtr span, retracts, entire tail section removable, and wing built in two sections ( otherwise the beast wont fit in my car ).
Electric of course, 2kW+ Scorpion outrunner, 6s 5000mahr LiPo, around 90+ Amps at WOT.[img][/img]

Re: My first ( well almost ) of 2011
Not much I am afraid - maybe 4 / 5 minutes depending on conditions.
TBH the powertrain is not the one I would have chosen if I hadn't already got most of the bits...the motor is simply too high Kv - but its rated at 2kW and was lying around looking for a home .
I May try 2 packs in parallel - but Im getting a bit bothered about wingloading - its already 36oz/sqft

LOL- difference is mate I built this one so it should fly properly - and there will be no restraining bands left on the prop

Very nice Are your going to fit the turbo prop sound system?
Are you going to bring a Warbird to the Delyn MFC Warbird meet on 17th April?

Daren't add any more weight until I see how she handles (12lb+) and 35 oz-sq'
.... shes already in warbird territory at that wingloading!
Its not so much the sound module, but the speakers weigh a bit - I have already loaded the turboprop engine sounds, but as I say - will have a few flights without first.
I have several warbirds that I could bring though, so the date is in the diary

Re: My first ( well almost ) of 2011
Not a great day at the field for me yesterday -
Tiggy Moth totalled = reversed ailerons - operator error.
F18 badly broken = battery checked this morning = open circuit cell 2.
Worst of all, following excellent first flight and landing etc of the PC9, second flight saw her die a horrible death due to, we think, UBEC failure.
Its on soak test as we speak. Some days...bad thingss happen

Bad luck Gary - I guess shutting the throttle on a chopper is not usually a good idea

A big shame Tim. I hate it when the attrition rate is greater than the build rate. Hope your next one fairs better
