Wet field

Sat Nov 11, 2017 9:08 pm by Gary M Jones

Went to the field in the forlorn hope of someone being there.. not to be.

FIELD SECURITY .... The gate padlock issue seems to have been resolved with 'farmers' twine' !! This is now the only security & whoever has done the job has been to …

Gate post broken

Post by Gary M Jones on Sun Aug 27, 2017 8:42 pm

Just in case anyone is not aware, the main gate post at the field entrance is broken at its base just at ground level. ( the bolt side post) The post is only supported by the fencing attached to it. If the fencing fails then the post will fall and the gate will no longer be able to be secured using the bolt. There is also a risk of animal escape onto the road if a cow for example were to lean on the post & release the bolt when someone is on the field having removed the lock / chain. The only real way to ensure safety of the gate until this is fixed, is to place the chain / lock on the gate after entering the field.

If the committee are not aware of this post, it may be a good idea to report this to the farmer otherwise we may be blamed for damaging the post when accessing or leaving the field.

As Rich said in another post the repair is not good .... the old post just seems to have been removed leaving nowhere to put the gate locking pin. Reliance on closure is now on the lock & chain only. This is a real pain & hopefully is temporary. However it does make opening the gate easier in as much as it no longer needs lifting.

Field was very wet today near the main road gate with the drainage ditch full & overflowing into the field. I did not chance it.
