I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

The Official Club Night Competition Series - 2017 edition.
Welcome one and all to the official announcement of the R&DMFC Club Night Competition Series - 2017 edition! You can all move off the edge of your seats, for this is the official schedule of competition events for this year, leading up the overall winner being crowned club champion, and getting to lift the mighty Urn at the end of the year! Some say, the Urn contains the remains of the fastest model ever to grace the RDMFC field, burnt to ashes in an unfortunate accident with a Spektrum Radio...
Anyway, the format is going to be roughly the same as last year. Official competitions shall be on the official club nights, the first Thursday evening of the month. Kick off at around 7pm. The emphasis is on much hilarity. points scoring is biased to those that make the Official Official laugh the most. You don't need a special plane to enter, any old funfly/trainer/sports model, even powered glider would do. The rules of each competition will be announced in a thread specific to that event on here, before the event (mostly). We may even hold a few impromptu rounds throughout the year, including one at local events the club is invited to attend (eg, St Asaph Show, Llanfair TH show etc).
So, onward with the Schedule:
May 4th - Climb and glide (with a spot landing bonus)
June 1st - Spot landing (powered and unpowered)
July 6th - All up last down. (spot landing bonus)
August 3rd - Roops (1 roll, 1 loop, repeat for 2 minutes, whoever does the most, wins, spot landing bonus)
September 7th - Egg bombing limbo with spot landing bonus

Ha haha. Climb and glide........ a 30 second power burst then shut off power and glide as long as ya can, landing as close as possible to the marked spot as placed by the official official.
I may have misunderstood the last part of the rules - I thought the official official WAS the the spot, but apparantely not.
Was entertaining though

Cracking night, and a bloody great sunset too. Wind didn't seem to bother most people, and the competition was really good, everyone did really well. Apart from one person, who, despite a very good glide time, will be docked a hefty amount of points due to confusing the landing spot with my head!

Re: The Official Club Night Competition Series - 2017 edition.
The official results are in! The delay was due to a stewards inquiry going on a little longer than anticipated. The turnout was great, the standard of flying was good too. Mostly. So, in no particular order:
Andy K - Excalibur electric glider. 4m 39s. No spot landing bonus, basic aeros bonus, and a tailslide bonus point. Total points awarded - 285
Tony Why - HK Tundra electric 1m 47s. Draggy airframe bonus. half throttle climb bonus. Spot landing bonus. Total points awarded - 276
Jeremy - Electric fusion - 3m 32s. Strip landing bonus. Basic aerobatics bonus. Dangerous flying anti-bonus. Spot landing bonus. Total points awarded - 279
Tim - Electric Walrus - 7m 12s. Boring flight anti-bonus. Nearly killed the official Official anti-bonus. Toital points awarded - (minus) -21.
Barnes, M. Electric fusion - 2m 2s. One handed gliding bonus. Strip landing bonus. - total points awarded - 276
Andy S. Graphite electric glider. 8m 40s. Super boring flight anti-bonus. Big flaps and still not able to hit the spot anti-bonus - Total points awarded - 276.
Everyone who came to watch, 2 points.
So there you go. Andy K has stormed into the lead after the first round of competition. Everyone else is hot on his heels, apart from Tim, who has negative points to make up. Good luck for the next round!

Re: The Official Club Night Competition Series - 2017 edition.
Hot off the desk of the official official, here's the results from the July Club night, where we held the All up, last down competition. The results would have been in sooner, but there was an official stewards enquiry into the legality of the polymer used in the Mini Talon's Li-Po batteries.....
The results, in no particular order:
Mark Barnes. EasyCub electric. 25m15s, "buzzing the tower topgun style" bonus, Total points, 275
Jem. IC Jive funfly. 25min 40s. Good flying pose bonus. Total points 280.
Tony Why. Foam glider thing. 28min 15 sec. Total points 281.
Charlie. Cougar IC funfly. 30min 15 sec. Total points 292.
Andy Edmead. IC limbo dancer 38 min 15 sec. Total points, 312.
Andy S. Electric mini talon 1hour, 18min 4 seconds. Boring flight anti-bonus. total ponts 313.
Allan Patric. IC diesel tomboy thing. 1 hour 13min. Late start anti-bonus. 304 points.
Everyone else who came to watch. 100 points.
We've missed August, so keep an eye out for details of the September clubnight competition!
