Wet field

Sat Nov 11, 2017 9:08 pm by Gary M Jones

Went to the field in the forlorn hope of someone being there.. not to be.

FIELD SECURITY .... The gate padlock issue seems to have been resolved with 'farmers' twine' !! This is now the only security & whoever has done the job has been to …

Yep, that's the one Tim. It has a St Asaph Fayre sign on the far side of the turn off the main road. Go down there, and we can drive into the field we are flying in through a double gate on the right (before the entrance to the main carpark field on the right).

If the grass is still long in the field, we are only allowed to drive on the hardcore track through the field so we can unload there, then park in the main carpark.

If the grass in the field has been cut by the farmer, then it is the same setup as last year, park down the fence line to that field, but drive in to the field as above.

I'm aiming to get there for 9am, after having breakfast in the whistlestop cafe in Rhuddlan Smile

From the main road, just as you enter the 40 limit for Trefnant, the turning is signposted to the Golf Driving Range. You go off the main road then towards the driving range but carry straight on past the range entrance and then just follow your nose

On the Sunday morning we will also be able to unload in the main field adjacent to our spot and pass stuff over the fence. Then move the cars back to car parking area. Save a little walking

So we can't park on the flying side of the fence as last year Allan Question

We can if the field has been cut by the farmer. If he hasn't cut the entire field, we cannot. We shall know for sure on Saturday afternoon.

Just as a quick update to avoid confusion:

Two committee members are visiting the St Asaph Fayre site today at some point.

An update will be posted later today as to whether the flying field has been cut sufficiently to allow one of our mowers (Brian) to get on there & cut the final strip.

If it’s ok with you Brian a last minute call may be required to go along & cut it?

One of the committee will be there to assist, if this is going to cause you any problems I’ll come along & pick up the mower.

We’re not 100% sure if we will be able to fly any of the larger fixed wings until later today.

We’re pretty sure the hand launchers & pesky camera ships will be massing at the event me included.

If it turns out to be a display only we would appreciate members giving up their spare time to attend the event if for only part of the day.

Many thanks in anticipation

Further update:

Farmer hasn’t cut the field we were due to fly from.

Mark & myself have made a decision not to cut a strip as we can only have a 20 metre  patch with a small walk path to & from the take off & landing area.

What this means is only small hand launch aeroplanes & helicopters/multi rotors can be flown tomorrow.

The event organiser has stressed that no damage is to be made to the uncut field with the exception of a walk path to & from an area that will be used for helicopter/multi rotor take off & landing or hand launch models, there should be no landing anywhere else in the field.

Static models are more than welcome, we have a reasonable area to display our aeroplanes etc.

Yeah it's a real shame on the field but they are adiment we cannot damage the field. And with the length outfield the proposed stip would have been pointless due to landing.

We should still have a good day displaying static and and launch

Looking forward to brekie
