WWII Paints

Can anyone suggest the best source of authentic colour paints for a WWII Hurricane? Beastie will be glow powered so I'll be using fuelproofer but fuel resistance would be good. I don't want to get lots & lots of small tinlets if I can help it. Thanks

Phil Clarke at fighter aces paints are supposed to be very good but have only heard that via word of mouth

matt humbrol sprays really well but not fuel proof

And only small tinlets it seems. These had been one possibility but I knew there was better out there somewhere

Allan, have you thought about going to an automotive paint supplier, who can mix custom colours? There's one in Rhyl who I know can match colours. If you got hold of a colour sample (printout perhaps?) I bet he could get some mixed up. You would probably need some lacquer to fuel proof it though (unless you went down the route of that nasty 2k stuff)....

How big is the Hurricane Allan ?

I had strongly considered Humbrol, the quality and colour are very good. I have some small quantities left over from an Airfix kit and tested these on some scrap balsa I had covered with the same covering by soaking in some high nitro fuel for a day or more. A bit severe I know! These were acrylics and were attacked by the fuel. I haven't tested enamels but seem to remember they are not fully proof. The model is 62" span so think that I'll need quite a few 14 ml tinlets

There's a bit of history here. I had a diesel earmarked for the model however now feel that its maybe a bit big and heavy for the capacity. I also had a good birthday pressie so a late change to a larger glow 4-st. Humbrol acrylics are 100% proof against diesel fuel
