Battery left at field.

Thu Aug 10, 2017 9:59 pm by Andyedmead

Not sure but think I may have left a battery on the box by the strip tonight after rushing off to recover plane from field?

FLYING @ C'FON AIRPORT

Post by FATBOY3237 on Mon Mar 25, 2013 10:21 am

Hi all

I know i have not joined yet but I am planing to in the near future however i have a very important question to see how much interest I can gather.

I have spoken to the Manager and owner of Caernarfon Airport about the possibility of flying on the airport, which he has agreed to consider and talk to CAA about the legalities of this. I have also informed him that only BMFA members will be able to attend and proof will be required.

We are planning to have it from 1700hrs until dark during the summer on 1(more if enough interest) Sat a month it will cost between £5-£10 per person and my parents who own the cafe on site have agreed to keep the cafe open until we finish.

BUT this is the important part i need to know how many people would be interested if I am able to arange this as if only one or two people are interested then this wont happen.(it needs to be cost effective for them)

ADVANTAGES : The flight line will be the main runway (so you dont get to dirty on TO/Landing ) but there is a large grass area which i will get sorted for those of us who want a grass strip and as it is a working Airport there is no over head cables. As i said before the cafe will be open for us to use so families would be welcome to.

So please guys get back to me ASAP so i can try and sort it out for the summer (nice weather) please be aware this will only be a tempary we might get a couple of years flying dependant on how things go and it is all down to the Roy who owns the airport.

Thanks guys for your time hope to here from you soon

If youre looking for a regular committed attendance, then count me out - there will be too many helis lol, and besides, I already pay fees to fly at a club site. Petrol costs on top of the attendance fee ( certainly wouldnt pay £10 ) make it OOQ for me Im afraid.
Well done for the idea though

I would be interested, but due to an impending arrival in June, I can't commit to anything for this year Sad If something is arranged, I would do my best to get there as much as I could though!

One tip, is steer clear of thrusday nights in the summer, that's the official RDMFC "club" night Smile

Would we be allowed to fly jets at the airport?

I would be interested in a visit and a fly but could not commit to every meet, to fair and if weekends will clash with shows/events I fly at.

A tarmac runway would appeal to jet fliers though and I know there are a few on Angelsea and surrounding areas

It might be easier if they checked the legalities via the BMFA rather than the CAA. The BMFA is more used to this type of enquiry

As mentioned earlier, I'm interested but couldn't commit to more than two or three visits over the course of the summer

From Colwyn Bay its 37 miles each way and journey time of 56 mins

Would be fun to do some long low passes!

I'm interested but I would only manage about 3 or 4 visits as its about 125 mile round trip for me.

I work in the museum (great fun flying quadcopters around inside!), and if you can arrange a group visit I should be able to get you a discounted entry. We had a T2 Harrier arrive late last year, well worth coming along to have a look.
